In recent months, Bell PD has seen an increase of illegal Nitrous Oxide (NOZ) use/possession which has led to many arrest/citations. NOZ is stored in containers pictured above. Parents please be aware if you see your child with one of these containers because it may contain NOZ. It is common for individuals to fill balloons with NOZ and inhale the substance to get high. When someone inhales nitrous oxide, the gas rapidly dissolves into the bloodstream. The gas is an anestheti...c, so coordination and awareness are strongly affected and users may fall over or briefly lose consciousness. The experience ends almost as swiftly as it began, with the peak lasting just seconds and the user is back to normal within seconds. When inhaled from a balloon, the gas in the lungs displaces air, temporarily preventing much or any oxygen getting into the blood. This may cause the heart to beat faster and limbs to feel tingly or heavy. The long term health effects can be severe. #saynotodrugs #bellpolice #bellpd #cityofbell See more

During the month of November, you may see some of our officers and department personnel look a bit scruffy. Our department is participating in the #NoShaveNovember which is an awareness campaign for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and testicular cancer. We are embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free in support for them. Our goal is to raise funds to donate to a cancer research center or a member of our community who is a cancer patient. #BellPD #BellPolice #cityofbell #CommunityPolicing #NoShaveNovember #Movember #NoShave #MensHealth #EarlyDetection #CancerAwareness #FeelSomethingSaySomething #BeardsAreBetter

With the assistance of LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority), the Bell Police Department conducts weekly outreach to homeless individuals. Services and resources are offered that include: placement in housing, transportation, and medical services. These services are optional and require the individual to accept the assistance. We will continue to monitor the concerns that have been brought to our attention regarding homeless individuals along Randolph, Gage, and Florence Avenues. Bell PD and LAHSA will continue to work together and offer the assistance and resources to those in need. #bellpd #bellpolice #cityofbell

Today, we begin October on an exciting journey!! October has been specifically designated as breast cancer awareness month. In recognition of breast cancer awareness month, officers and staff will be wearing a little extra pink! This is an awareness campaign in collaboration with @pinkpatchproject along with several public safety agencies across the nation. The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign that began in 2015 between the Los Angeles County Pol...ice Chiefs' Association and public safety agencies in Los Angeles County and beyond. The main goal is to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer, raising public awareness about the importance of early detection, and to raise funds for breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. The City of Bell Police Department has been fortunate to be part of this campaign since its inception in 2015 and are fortunate enough through our efforts, to financially support community members who are battling this terrible disease. Visit our Instagram account @BellPD_PinkPatch to learn more of our campaign and keep up to date on merchandise and exciting news to come!! For any questions or inquiries, email us at [email protected] or DM us.
