This includes at home care too. ______... Curls do not process the same as our straight haired homegirls. It is a very delicate process and should be treated as such. Those with delicate waves/finer curls should proceed with caution. Placement is one of the most important aspects when executing haircolor on a client. It’s what they see first and why I love color blocking so much. You can control how much, where, what color, etc.. ______ Although this past year has been particularly trying, I’m really proud of my clients for stepping outside their comfort zones. Defying the standard is one of my favorite parts about being a hairdresser. I am firm on my stance that haircolor has ZERO to do with your work ...performance. Working from home & zoom calls have made my clients say fuck it and go for it! ______ Who made up these idiotic rules anyway? Probably some Wall St. crooks. RESIST ALWAYS

If you’re not practicing good at home care, have an extreme color look, style often, or a cut that requires more shape maintenance, you may need a few extra cuts than the average guest. ______ My client here was/is growing out a branded curl cut in this photo (before & after - left to right). She was telling me how unhappy she was that they cut every single curl when she didn’t feel it was necessary. It... left her with a fringe/bang she didn’t want and is still growing out. It’s really important to have a thorough consultation with our textured clients. Find out their lifestyle, hair care routines, and wants/needs. It’s not always about what we as stylists think would look good. It may cause more problems for them down the line. ______ Going forward I will require all new guests to come in for a cut before any color can occur. We have to do an in depth consult & I need to see/feel the condition of your hair. Not all hair is ready for color, and that’s okay. It’s important to have healthy hair BEFORE coloring. Today my beautiful son turns 14! He & I grew up together, and boy I am so grateful he is a mellow soul. The love I receive over my kids is truly uplifting. This shit is hard, don’t let anyone tell you it gets easier. It transforms & we adapt. My son is really the first reason I had a purpose & the first reason why I wanted to continue my life on Earth. ______ Filisione is funny, calm, gentle, athletic as his great ancestors made him to be, smart, fake shy, a great big broth...er, and secretly a great dancer. He learned how to walk through Tahitian dance lines & helped watched his sister at whatever salon we were at. ______ Thank you son. Mama loves you & we’ve been through hell, but I promise there’s so much to enjoy for us Happy birthday first twin!
