Last Saturday, for the first time since 2019, we gathered as family, friends, and guests for our Annual Heart of Recovery Dinner. Obviously, not all of you were there. That does not matter - all of you were there in spirit. All of you were there in our sense of community. And all of you were there in your commitment to saving lives. I had forgotten what it was like to "gather", to bear witness to the miracle called a Beacon House man. I watched as friends and families ro...se their paddles to show their love for our men. They carried forward the torch for all of us. Stories were shared. Archie's, Steven's and James' to name a few. I spoke with mothers and fathers, who live the miracle. Wives and girlfriends mingled among us. I sat with people creating the miracle and who are the miracle. I felt joy and a deep sense of purpose. We honored a great friend of Beacon House and we made sure the miracle of Beacon House continues. To all of you, no matter where you "gathered" on Saturday - thank you. For those who are joining us for the Heart of Recovery Fundraising Dinner, Remember the event is today! It begins with a 5PM Meet the Men Social Hour and then leads to a dinner to remember prepared by the chefs of The Beacon House. Parking is available along Beacon Street (between 9th and 11th), as well as 10th and 9th Streets. Look for the men in Yellow! They will direct you to a parking spot. Please bring a coat or jacket just in case it cools down once the sunsets. We wi...ll have heaters, but just in case. Our Strides in Recovery running team resumed training this week after a short break. In addition to their coach/Strides founder Leslie Gold, they were joined by a graduate of Fred Brown Recovery Services who regularly comes back to run with his brothers and decided to join Leslie for our run too. Little did he know that #TheMenOfBeaconHouse decided to do a six-mile route, complete with some serious hills. They ran from sea level to Lookout Point Park, and this week's special ...guest said it was the toughest workout he had done in years... but Leslie said he refused to give up. Instead, he drew on mental strength to power him forward, and here he is at the top with one of our men, Derek W!
