Monday- our first day back to work in weeks starts with a walk through on our #olivenhain remodel. Our clients are going to live in the house so there are three phases for this construction. Phase 1 is Masterbedroom/bath, boys bathroom, Granny flat bath/kitchen/ living room and the laundry room. Gosh last year was a hard one. And not sure how 2021 is looking either As I type this, I’m on day 20 of not feeling great. I have recovered mostly but my cough is probably going to be with me for awhile. I haven’t even had time to sit and think about my hopes and desires for this year personally and at work. NOR did I really care to honestly So, I decidedly made one New Years Resolution for 2021, I have no idea what’s coming but I will find joy in this year. I will ride with what happens day to day and look in my families faces and be joyful. This is going to be a harder decision than you think for me- to captivate my thoughts of negativity and turn them into joy. As we begin to head to the final days in 2020 (which admittedly has been the hardest year of my life, and many around me), I have been saying to just go ahead and get this year over. Spending time on the phone yesterday with one of my dear friends, she said to me that looking back she couldn’t believe how the Lord had walked before me and planned this year to protect me. I stopped and realized that most of this year I have focused on what he has taken away from me. A sweet reminder from someone who loves me dearly that He is always good. He provides amongst the darkness and His light is what sees us through. Thank you Jesus, you have been so good to me. #sundayinspiration #beachbungalowdesigns

Wishing it was easy like Sunday morning right now! A reminder amongst us learning of another lock down that this verse is true. Psalms 61:2, When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. I woke up praying for each small business owner that I know that will be effected to remember who’s really in control. It is so much easier said in this post than done but I’m still having faith in the truth that leads me back to the cross. #beachbungalowdesigns

This year has had some extreme highs and lows. Sometimes I honestly have no idea what I’m feeling. In March, I suddenly became a homeschool mom, started working from home and had limits in my activities like the rest of us. I was racked with fear that the business wouldn’t continue and had no idea how to stay at home after being gone for years. In April, we started to get busier at work again, I found a routine with teaching my kids and found a love for working from home. ...We hit a family rhythm of time together that was amazing with board games, hikes, family dinners and down time. In May, I was desperate for school to be over. My home school mom hat became extremely hard to balance with work getting busier and busier. I started visiting the shop to work and it made it harder to leave the kids at home with Seth working full time too. June brought utter devastation to our little family with the death of Seth’s brother Keith. We are still navigating that grief and it was a life changing moment. July seemed pretty foggy and hard but we tried to be present in friendships and bringing our kids a normal sense of summer. August came and we were pulling out of the fog, and excited that our kids would be able to have a normalcy of attending school. They started school and while it was there were hard moments emotionally for them , they have loved it! I started to view this time as a gift. And for the first time having my business , I decided to end my lease and work full time from home. September brought on an epic surge of business unlike anything I have felt in 15 years, I felt excitement but a little overwhelmed and just thankful! October has brought me to a place that I feel so happy that I took the leap to be home while working, the kids are both loving school, but I am still questioning and longing for some normalcy. I have questions if it ever will be normal again ? But I know one thing through all those months that I have lived that my heart was steady in saying: Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness, My God that is who you are. And that truth I can rest in no matter what November brings. #beachbungalowdesigns See more

I remember when I was a little girl how hard it was to get up for church on a Sunday. In fact, I remember as an adult many Sundays being so tired that I didn’t want to get up BUT lately I have been starving almost to walk inside the doors of a church and hear music, listen to a sermon and feel that presence. 2020 has been such a hard year for everyone so to not be able to run and sit in a space that has always provided me comfort makes me miss it so much. I’m thankful that I can still attend sometimes outside or hear a message on-line. But today, I’m just wanting it to go back to those uncomplicated times when I could drive around the corner and walk in the doors. One day again

I woke up dreaming of tile and this shower where we used penny rounds to create a rugby stripe is one to be dreamt about. We are so busy I am pretty certain in fact that @shan_shan_palm_palm and I worked together from 9:00-6:30 last night and spoke about 5 personal sentences to one another BUT both of us are really excited about all the fun projects on the Horizon. Next week we have a bunch of first presentations so follow along as I present the beginning looks for 4 of our new ones. Can’t wait to show our plans!

TGIF! And that calls for another reveal of this fun Master-bedroom! This Solana Beach remodel was one of my favorites from the year. The before was full of wallpaper and weird cut- out walls for nightstands so we were so glad to add new detail in with the wainscoting to really make a statement. Our Friday is super busy so follow along on our stories to see our adventures!

This Saturday feels like the perfect time to reveal our newest family room. It would be fun if I didn’t attach the BEFORE which my clients felt was heavy and dark. We re-purposed their couch with a new fabric and added some new pieces (new chairs, rug, coffee table and light) that updated the space and made the room lighter. These shelf details were shopped for over time. From Target, to San Diego stores, to on-line retailers, to our clients bins of color coordinated books, each little piece was selected with hopes of it finding a home. We decided to do this fun movable island so our clients could wheel it indoor or outdoor to serve food off of it. I think it ended up being a fun design element in the space.
