Beach Braces

Here are some delicious tooth friendly recipes for you and the whole family to enjoy while you are in braces! Five Ingredient Ice Cream (Serves 12) - cup cold milk... -1 tablespoon vanilla extract -1 14-ounce can sweetened, condensed milk -1/8 teaspoon salt -2 cups heavy cream In a medium bowl, stir together cold milk, vanilla, condensed milk and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Fold milk mixture into whipped cream. Pour into shallow 2-quart dish, cover and freeze for 4 hours, stirring once after 2 hours or when edges start to harden. Serve or store in an airtight container up to 10 days. --- Butterscotch Pudding (Serves 4) -1 cup dark brown sugar - cup and 2 tablespoon cornstarch - teaspoon salt -2 eggs, beaten -2 cups milk -1 teaspoon vanilla extract - cup butter In a 1-quart saucepan, stir together sugar, cornstarch and salt. Place over medium-low heat and stir in eggs and milk. Cook, stirring, until mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a metal spoon. Stir in vanilla and butter. Let cool briefly and serve warm, or chill in refrigerator until serving. --- Banana Blast (Serves 2) -1 banana -1 pinch ground nutmeg - teaspoon vanilla extract -1 cup milk -2 cups crushed ice In a blender combine banana, nutmeg, vanilla, milk and crushed ice. When the holiday season comes around, there’s no need for kids with braces to miss out on the traditional treats. Some candies can damage braces, but there are plenty of safe and tasty snacks to satisfy young taste buds without interfering with orthodontia. Treats to Avoid: For the sake of your child’s braces, you need to scoot past the hard, chewy and sticky foods. The AAO advises that children with braces avoid caramel, licorice, lollipops, bubblegum, popcorn, taffy, jelly ...beans and hard pretzels. How come? Biting hard foods can bend or even break your child’s metal brackets. Recipe for Safety: The AAO suggests chocolate, peanut butter, milkshakes, gelatin-based candies and ice cream are all fun holiday treats that won’t damage braces. Hard fruits such as apples, however, should be thinly sliced. Brushing twice a day is especially important during the holidays. Encourage the family to do so in the morning before work or school and in the evening before going to bed. For added assurance that the food you serve is safe on braces, consider making your own. Santa, smoothies and Christmas tree shaped cookies make fun holiday treats. By offering your child enticing alternatives, he or she can have just as much fun as everyone else while benefiting from the long-term bonus of beautifully straight, pearly white teeth.

Straight teeth and a balanced facial profile are the goal of orthodontics. However, because new technology has provided advanced orthodontic procedures, removing teeth is not always necessary for orthodontic treatment.

We are thrilled to share that actress and model Kelly Thiebaud, best known for her portrayal of Dr. Britt Westbourne on ABC's General Hospital, has chosen the Beach Braces team to help with her journey to straighter teeth! Kelly will be using REVEAL clear aligners. These aligners are a series of clear, lightweight plastic trays that correct misaligned teeth in place of traditional braces.
