18 week old Merlin is beyond cute! And has been through so much already in his short life. . Merlin had distal femoral fractures (area of the thighbone just above the knee) on both back legs when he was 8 weeks old after being hit by a car and then surrendered to Washington Dog & Cat Hospital (you guys are awesome @washingtondogandcathospital !!) . He had an initial surgery for the fractures where pins were placed but unfortunately, due to complications, the pins had to... be removed. He then had a right stifle joint (knee joint) exploration at @accessanimalhospitals to release the extensor mechanism and promote flexion of the joint. . Extensive Physical therapy here at BARC will be needed to prevent further quadriceps contraction and maintain strength and mobility. . Skipper comes to BARC for therapy and acupuncture for right hip osteoarthritis with mild compensatory muscle strain. She was rescued off the street ten years ago and had her left pelvic limb amputated at that time. She does great on three legs
