It’s even a good idea to turn boxes inside out if they have any exterior markings that would indicate their former contents. Intact boxes can be a magnet for burglars if there are enough of them and they broadcast what is now inside the home. 4. Don’t Leave Items Unattended There are two problems with leaving items in the driveway or leaning against the side of the house. First, of all those items can be easily stolen without any commotion. Second, they tell burglars a new homeowner is a bit frazzled or scatterbrained at the moment, and thus, ripe for burglary.
