PRESS RELEASE - Willows, CA On the afternoon of Sunday January 3, 2021, Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputies were actively seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old M...aclovio Campos Rodriguez of Orland. Rodriguez was a wanted person in connection with a Domestic Violence Incident and Attempted Homicide that occurred between Rodriguez and a relative in his home on December 30, 2020 outside of the city of Orland. During that incident, Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a report where witnesses alleged Rodriguez threatened, battered, and attempted to strangle a relative in the home. Before Deputies arrived to investigate, witnesses stated Rodriguez fled the area in a vehicle armed with a handgun. Deputies attempted to arrest Rodriguez afterward for attempted homicide but were unable to locate him. On Sunday January 3, 2021, around 1:55pm, an on duty Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy observed Rodriguez driving a vehicle near the city of Willows. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop in an attempt to apprehend Rodriguez. Rodriguez fled in the vehicle to a residence in the 500 block North Tehama Street in Willows where his parents resided. Deputies attempted to apprehend him at that location, when he ran inside the house and barricaded himself inside of an attic. The occupants of the residence agreed to vacate the property while Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputies, members of the California Highway Patrol, and Orland Police Department set up a perimeter and attempted to establish contact with Rodriguez. Glenn County Sheriff’s Detectives responded and were able to obtain a Search Warrant to enter the residence and arrest Rodriguez. Glenn County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office Regional Swat Team to assist in the apprehension of Rodriguez. After several hours of failed attempts to establish contact with Rodriguez to negotiate for his surrender, Butte County SWAT Team members were able to gain access to the area inside the attic where Rodriguez was hiding and extricate him. Glenn County Sheriff’s Detectives took custody of Rodriguez, who was unharmed, and took him to the Glenn County Jail where he was booked for the following crimes: Criminal Threats, Attempted Homicide, Corporal Injury to Spouse or Cohabitant, Felon in Possession of Firearm, and Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the welfare and safety of the citizens of Glenn County. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the following agencies for assistance in the safe apprehension of Attempted Homicide Suspect Maclovio Campos Rodriguez: The Butte County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, and Orland Police Department. Heads up Chico area, our team is training with our Butte Inter-agency Rescue Group partners, and will be performing helicopter rescue training on the CSU Chico ...campus this morning. There will be lots of SAR/Fire/Rescue vehicles, and a least a couple of helicopters. Please know that there is no emergency. It's still 2020, and we have to be prepared for anything - so we train like our lives (and those we serve) depend on it. See more
