Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy Choirs

I'm not sure what happened to the video of the advanced choir singing "The National Anthem," but this was the video that should have played during the ceremony for Buckingham Charter Magnet High School's virtual graduation. I'm so very proud of all these kids, and am so glad that "For Good" turned out beautifully. Thank you to each of my choir kids who sent in their recordings. I miss and love you all. **It’s important to note that 12 of the kids in this group are seniors. They definitely deserve this recognition.

At the beginning of the school closures in March, when we thought it would just be for a couple of weeks, I assigned this song to my students to begin rehearsing for our annual performance at our final concert in May, as well as Graduation. It is a tradition I have upheld with my choirs for years. We feature our seniors, having them stand in the middle of the choir, surrounded by the underclassmen. As the school closures began to be extended, I assigned the students to send m...e a recording of their voice alone, specifying the seniors to send me video so that I could do something special with it. Had I known then that this would be the way we were going to perform the song for the virtual Graduation ceremony, I might have had the seniors dress up. Maybe I would have given more precise instructions for recording. As it turned out, I feel this is the most raw and beautiful performance we have ever done of this piece. Accompaniment was recorded by our pianist, Debbie Miller. Video editing was done by my husband, Tim. 15 of my 33 seniors sent video, and they are featured throughout, as well as each of our three choirs at the two concerts we had the opportunity to perform this school year. Okay...so, I’ve been TERRIBLE about posting on this page, and I do apologize! I’ll try to do better, but we do have an Instagram page now, too. Look me up there, either on my personal page (@ch0irqueen) or the choir page (@bcmhs.choirs). Next concert coming up soon is our classical/multicultural evening on Thursday, March 5th. We’ll be at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville, doors open at 6:30 with the start time at 7:00 pm. It’s a bargain at $5 per person to get in the door! Each of the three choirs are going to bring some truly exceptional music, and we’d love to see you there! Then, put Monday, May 18th on your calendar, as you won’t want to miss out on our Top Hits Through The Decades concert. That one begins at 6:30, and includes the ice cream social following our annual awards. Please make plans to join us!!

Local friends (anywhere near the Vacaville area) - Come on out to the Buckingham High School Choir Concert on Monday, May 13th at 6:30 pm. We will be at Trinity Baptist Church (401 W. Monte Vista Ave, Vacaville) and doors open at 6:00 pm. For the bargain price of $5 per person ($20 max for immediate family), you will enjoy some incredible solos and duets, and then each of the three choirs will present their Songs From The Movies. We’ve got everything from Rocky to The Hobbit, Guardians of the Galaxy, Pitch Perfect, and all kinds of things in between represented in our music for the evening. Plus, there will be ice cream following an awards ceremony. I guarantee you will enjoy yourselves! Come on out and support these fantastic kids, and enjoy some great music, too! You will be glad you did!

On our trip to New York, the advanced choir stopped to sing on the steps of the building where our first president, George Washington, was inaugurated. Our NYC tour guide, Bruce, was brought to tears and said he’d never experienced that before, and it was beautiful. Just one of the priceless experiences we were fortunate to have.
