#homebuyers, beware! An entire scam industry is trying to steal your identity and your money. They hack mortgage companies’ systems and steal customer information, along with what they need to send genuine-looking emails to those customers. If your mortgage company suddenly sends you an email requesting personal information, a pre-closing payment or especially a #wiretransfer, call your company on a number YOU have for them, not one on the email. Verify the request is legitimate (it most likely won’t be). Then, let the FTC know if it’s a fraud! Have you been targeted by mortgage fraud? Share your experience with us in the comments!
