Bay Area Housing Trends

Just when you think the real estate market can't surprise, along comes a Pandemic which sets off a house buying frenzy on the Peninsula. Of the 28 cities represented in San Mateo County, 22 increased in average sale price 2020 over 2019, 5 saw a lowering of the average sale price, and 1 city, San Gregorio, had no sale in 2020! A couple of notable mentions are Pescadero which saw a staggering increase in price, and Hillsborough which reached a new high! Of the 18 cities rep...resented in Santa Clara County, only 2 saw a decrease in average sale prices and neither were big decreases. Both Los Altos and Los Altos Hills saw huge increases, almost reclaiming their 2018 prices! I haven't covered the Santa Cruz mountains in this information yet I do cover that area for buyers, if you'd like comparable information on communities in that area, for example Boulder Creek or Felton, let me know.
