Know what PRNS facilities and amenities are open! Following Santa Clara County and State orders, the City of San José has reopened some PRNS facilities and ame...nities with new protocols in place. The City of San José continues to evaluate reopenings in consideration of the health and safety of our community. For details and a full list of reopened facilities and amenities, please visit bit.ly/prnsreopens. Those who choose to use opened facilities and amenities must follow all posted signage as well as the orders and guidance from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. This includes staying out of closed amenities, using face coverings unless you are actively exercising, no sharing of recreational equipment, and only using open facilities with members of your household.

July is National Parks and Recreation month. As we've seen change in the City of San José, our department has been involved in many aspects of response, from di...stributing food and necessities, to tirelessly maintaining parks and trails so that everyone can get outdoors. The pandemic has taught us that the work done by this department and departments like ours across the country is ESSENTIAL. Shout out to everyone involved in our community! See more

PRNS takes pride in the contributions of the Black, Brown and LGBTQ+ communities toward furthering racial justice and equity. Pride Month celebrates members of ...the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) community in face of discrimination and violence still prevalent today. June was chosen to commemorate the Stonewall uprising in 1969. Marsha P. Johnson, a Black transgender woman, and Sylvia Rivera, a Latina transgender woman, were activists vital to this movement that would be the catalyst of LGBTQ+ rights nationwide. See more
