Putting a horse in a trailer sounds like it’s super easy...until you actually have to do it! Trailering a horse can be intimidating and scary for a lot of people, and horses can react in a lot of negative ways. But have no fear! Ashley and Michelle are here to help you learn how to properly and safely trailer your horse! Michelle and Ashley will cover making sure your trailer is safe, choosing the right truck for the job, and of course, getting your horse in and out of the trailer successfully! And don’t miss taking a ride in our trailer with Nemo, the pony, at the very end of the video. We take the camera into the back of the trailer and have Ashley drive us around some corners so that you can see what it’s like to be a horse! Click the link to watch: https://youtu.be/zet7oIMXru4
If Grace isn't scheduling guests, organizing team meetings, or shooting our latest YouTube video, she is usually fixing or building something. There is always a project that needs tackling or a fence that needs fixing.
Join Michelle at the round pen as she demonstrates how we desensitize ourl horses from scary objects they might encounter on an arean or trail ride. Safety is the first priority at the Bar SZ Ranch, especially when it comes to our guests and their experiences with our horses.
Come along with the Bar SZ team as we check in on Daisy, our bottle fed calf that Colton is raising! She’s gotten a lot bigger but is still just as cute! Michelle and Colton are very excited to start working with Daisy, preparing for showmanship opportunities and training her to be more polite with people as she grows. Michelle will walk us through showing Daisy, and she’ll point out some issues we’ll need to work on with Daisy in the coming months. To finish off, Michelle and Colton will show you how to wash and blow dry Daisy. Don’t miss the heifer and the hairdryer with Colton and Michelle! We hear time and time again from guests with concerns, before their visit, about for not having cell reception during their visit and only having a simple internet connection that will barely allows them browse their social media. But once our guests arrive, the lack of cell reception is quickly replaced with excitement and an invitation to slow down and enjoy the simplicity of county living.
Did you know that sometimes horses get haircuts, too? Today, Ashley and Maddi take us through the steps of clipping their horses and why it’s important to cut our their hair! When the seasons start changing and the weather gets cooler, clipping our horses becomes more essential. Join Ashley, Dillon, Maddi, and Willie as they show us how they clip their horses over on our YouTube page. Click the link to watch: https://youtu.be/ZSQOXGoRwXY
Ashley is our Barn Co-Director and Head Wrangler. If you ever go on a Bar SZ trail ride, Ashley will be the one leading the way along with her horse, Dillon. They are rarely apart and are a great team on and off the trails. Ashley, along with the rest of our team, is passionate about giving our guests a great horseback riding experience, but also about educating them on all things horses, riding, soap-making, animals, and...our most recent addition to the ranch, Franklin, the llama.
There's always fresh eggs at the Bar SZ
When you wake up the day after a ranch wedding and your car has a flat tire, you know it’s going to be another day of dirty jobs. Come along with Tim and Colton as they take us along for some good ol’ ranch chores. There are tables to throw around, tires to wrestle off, and wood to chop for fires. See how the Bar SZ team handles dirty jobs together! Click the link to watch: https://youtu.be/DHHkaRSqLos
Round penning is a process we use to establish fundamentals with our horses in a safe and controlled environment. This area provides a workable training distance from our horses but also gives the option to get closer to teach them about respecting personal boundaries.
What are some experiences at the ranch that have inspired you? Guests and visitors at the ranch expect to unplug and step away from their phones for a long weekend. Once they arrive, however, they soon realize that this isn’t just another vacation. Our guests experience our ranch lifestyle that educates and inspires a new perspective. Who knows? Maybe your stay will ignite a passion or interest you never knew you had!
#TrailrideTuesdays
"Monday is not just another weekday. Not the first day of a long week or the end of the weekend. Mondays represent the weekly opportunity that we have to reset and reboot our dreams so that we can be sure we are moving toward our destiny! Don’t let Mondays be mundane....Mondays should be magical!" -Tim's Monday Motivation
It's always fun watching families gather around the archery and bb gun range during our afternoon activities. It’s also fun seeing who ends up better at archery by the end of a weekend--the kids or the parents. What is your favorite activity to do on Sundays?
There’s a new face here at the ranch, and it’s Ashley’s favorite animal ever! That’s right, folks. We finally were able to welcome a llama to the Bar SZ Ranch herd! Meet Franklin, the llama. It’s been a few days since Franklin arrived, and he’s quickly settling in with Ashley and the rest of the team. Ashley is absolutely loving getting to spend time with him and is beyond excited to show us what she’s been learning and how she’s been working with him. Join Ashley and Franklin as we share some llama knowledge with you. Click the link to watch: https://youtu.be/Uz5u-8NVRn8
We are gearing up for a weekend of trail rides, and we want every guest to have a safe riding experience but also an educational one! We make every horseback riding experience here an introduction or refresher course on proper horsemanship techniques that guests can build on after their stay. We always enjoy hearing stories about guest experiences and how our time together ignited a deeper passion for horsemanship! What are some of your favorite memories and experiences you’ve had during your stay at the Bar SZ?
