Bandit Trail Run

Hello Bandit Family, I hope you’ve been able to read the latest issue of Ultra Runner Magazine. The race review is thereand it includes the announcement of the sunsetting of The Bandit. Thanks to Karl Hoagland and Erika Lindland (Publisher and Editor) for giving us the space amongst the many races across the world they report on.... For myself and Sarita, it’s time to get out to see the planet and run the trails! There is just not enough time left to give the right amount of energy for the planning and production of the Bandit. We’ve produced it since 2006 and with the growth has become more than we want to manage. For those of you that LOVE the Simi Valley California trails: good news! Nancy and Larry Dervin are in the process of creating an ultra race tentatively called The Rock Peak 50/30K. That is not a confirmed official name - check in with them for more details. They are amazing RD’s with so much experience I’m excited to see what they create. The Bandit wasn’t sold or bought by anyone. The Bandit Committee wrapped up the 2016 race together and we continue as great friends off into the sunrises and sunsets with our families and careers. All of us are so thankful for every Volunteer, Sponsor and Runner we’ve been lucky to meet since the beginning. Thank you again for supporting us! Randy, Sarita, Eric, Mat, Tommi and Josh

We had 4 people that ran The Bandit every year out of the thousands. That is amazing. Respect to each of them.

JUST TO LET EVERYONE ON PLANET EARTH KNOW: The Bandit is not closed...it is on "holiday" for now. It was not given or sold to anyone. We have a formula for races that we believe in and WILL use it to wake The Bandit up again. It might not be in Simi Valley California (you never know the future now do you?) but we Shoemakers talk about it OFTEN. We LOVED that race.... If you run one of our courses - tag us! Keep this dream alive.

BIG KUDOS to Uncle Ernie's Pizza. Uncle Ernie's provided the PIZZA PIE for our Bandit 2016. Steve Apostolof worked the Chumash Aid Station and his wife Sue made sure the pies were delivered as planned.... The runners took care of the rest!! And thank you to each of you for sending us your race reports (we still want them) and including your thoughts on things outside of the actual race course. It's great to know we picked a WINNER on food for you champs.
