Danielle De Smeth and Monique Fierro were in zoom client meeting number 7 of 7 yesterday afternoon when Jennifer Yates and Ron Bamieh texted the news of Justice Ginsberg’s passing. Two of those clients suffered abuse at the hands of their teacher and the other five work in a male dominated industry and were all sexually harassed and assaulted with unwanted kisses, hugs and groping in the workplace by the same male manager. He was cajoled into early retirement and the new pow...ers that be have been apologetic but the women were left to contend with this letch on their own even though their jobs were at stake and his behavior was open and obvious to everyone in the workplace. This sexually inappropriate behavior was happening in 2019-2020. While it is shocking that this is still occurring in the workplace, without Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s relentless fight for women’s rights and equality for the last 50 years, we may not have the laws on the books that will allow us to hold responsible all of those who let this disgusting behavior persist. Another story on our battle against UCSB and its police chief. Our client has been courageous throughout and Monique Fierro beautifully lays out how the university could and should have conducted itself.

Our 19-year old client was felt-up by the UCSB police chief in uniform in the dining hall and their response is, this is a slip and fall case. UCSB also said, The university will allow the process to move forward and we trust the court system will reach the correct conclusion. Except late Friday night, after this article was published, UCSB’s attorneys filed papers to take the case out of a Santa Barbara jury’s hands and have a federal court decide the case instead. It doesn’t matter who decides this case, our witnesses establish it was a clear sexual assault and gross abuse of power.

Very excited about our win for Ojai Valley Little League - full Preliminary Injunction granted requiring former board members to stop using our clients' taxpayer ID number, bank accounts, nonprofit registration and most importantly the Oak Dell baseball fields. Youth baseball might be on hold right now, but we are still fighting to make sure the right people coach and guide our kids. It has been so cool to work with Trusted Legal on this!
