We get asked so often so we'd like to do our part to clear the confusion. Ube is not Taro. Ube is a purple yam and taro, well, is taro. Ube has a distinctive deep purple hue vs taro which is very pale purple to blah beige. Ube is also not the same as the purple sweet potato or Okinawan sweet potato.
