A Q&A with Noel Téllez, owner of Bichi, one of Mexico's first natural wine labels.
"Intriguing new research from archaeological sites in central Texas is the first to suggest that, actually, indigenous Americans were making grape wine more than 500 years ago, before European colonists brought their guns, germs and vines over."
If you're looking to learn more about the history of wine in Mexico and Baja, this article is a great place to start!
Some great information here about the terroir and grapes of Valle de Guadalupe. This is what makes Baja wines so wonderfully unique!
We LOVE this move to protect our children from lifelong illness and processed-food-related health issues... As a side benefit, this move also works to protect small mom-and-pop food establishments that cook from scratch, source locally grown ingredients, and employ more traditional food preparation methods all of which leads to healier food (human fuel), preservation of culture, and a healthier society. Oaxaca’s new law, which imposes fines and even jail time for anyone other than parents who provide unhealthy packaged foods to children under the age of 18, effectively putting junk food in the same category as alcohol and cigarettes.
Since you can’t be with us in Mexico’s Wine Country right now, here’s a nice summer pairing suggestion with an easy-to-make recipe for campestre-style elote... Buen Provecho!
An incredible resource for anyone looking for some inspiration for cooking at home right now!
In case you forget to stock up on Valle de Guadalupe wines...
