What a bunch of nonsense being fed to voters who just don't know. The guy in the video mentioned that he was arrested at 15 years of age and was forced to stay ...in jail because he wasn't able to afford Bail, and subsequently served 17 years for Gang related activity. 1) There is NO BAIL for minors. So at 15 Bail would not even be offered to him. So that's a blatant lie. He obviously was paid to support Prop 25. 2) He was kept in jail because not because he couldn't afford bail, but because he committed a serious crime, hence served 17 years. 3) Ability to bail is a constitutional right. 4) 99% of defendants that bail out are given a comfortable payment plan. Ive had clients that paid as little as $25/month. Who can't afford $25/month? 5) Instead of sitting in jail, Bail gives an opportunity for a defendant to go back to work and pay their everyday bills, instead of sitting in jail waiting for their case to be heard, and lose their jobs and homes. 6) This guy in the interview is a moron, because If Prop 25 passes, he would have ZERO chance to be freed as Bail would not be an option, and serious crimes and gang related activity would not qualify for release at all. 7) Current system has accountability for defendants to show up to court, at ZERO cost for the tax payers. With the proposed elimination of bail. There will be no accountability, No one will be showing up to court as there is no accountability, huge number of people will be walking around with warrants. 8) As had proven, when there is no accountability, crime increases, and rate of repeat offenders increases. 9) Elimination of Bail will cost Tax payers HUNDREDS OF MILLION OF DOLLARS ANNUALY!! 10) POOR PEOPLE DONT COMMIT CRIME!! CRIMINALS COMMIT CRIME!! NO ON PROP 25 - KEEP CALIFORNIA SAFE!!
