The question on everyone's mind lately- when and where can I get the COVID19 vaccine? The At Your Service team has information! Currently, in most cases, vaccines are becoming available for healthcare/frontline workers, and vulnerable members of the population (namely 65-75+ aged individuals, with some exceptions). ... With this in mind, most vaccines are distributed on an appointment basis. If you are a frontline worker, there are minimal, county resources available. You would likely be notified by your employer on when/how to enroll. If you are a community resident between 65-75 y/o and up, there are appointments slowly becoming available on a first-come, first serve basis through private health care providers. Clinics, on the other hand, are rather limited- but some have instated waiting lists or given an estimate on when to check back. Some info. below: Kaiser members should contact their primary care provider here https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/northern-ca/front-door or contact the Kaiser appointment or advice line to determine their eligibility and schedule an appointment. Eligible individuals who receive primary care through Sutter Health should contact Sutter https://www.sutterhealth.org/covid-vaccine or call (844) 987-6115. Eligible individuals who receive their primary care through St. Joseph Health should contact https://coronavirus.providence.org/norcal-updates. Eligible individuals whose primary care provider is through a medical clinic will have an opportunity to be vaccinated through one of a number of clinics being set up through the County Health department. Check back for scheduling information. Eligible individuals who do not have insurance, should check back for updates as plans are underway for all of Sonoma County. Resources on vaccine availability in Sonoma County, as well as info on the vaccine itself, are below. We've also attached a chart showing the latest details on availability in our community. We hope this helps. As always- take care of yourself, those you love, and your community! Practice proper infection control! Wear masks when outside the home, practice good handwashing. If you're unwell, stay home! We will get through this, together, community strong. Support our local businesses- many of which now have online shops! When out- practice social distancing, wear your mask at all times (ensuring that it covers your mouth and nose) and avoid touching your face or touching multiple surfaces. We say it all the time, "Now more than ever, home is the safest place to be." We live in an era in which there are more tools available to us than ever before. When we provide assessments to families, we are more and more finding ways that their lives and care can be simplified using various tech and smart home devices. Did you know that you can ask Alexa to call 911 for you if you've fallen? Check out this recent article, courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, that talks abou...t how technological advances and the concept of 'smart homes' is helping keep us closer and safer than ever. There's even a special shout out to our partner company, Honor- who is at the forefront of bringing technology into Home Care. As always, from our AYS family to yours, stay safe and well https://www.wsj.com//how-to-care-for-aging-parents-when-yo

When someone you love begins to experience cognitive decline, it's tough to know where to start and how to be of support. Many families we speak with every day always have the same question- where to begin? The Alzheimer's Association has a great deal of resources for families just beginning to research solutions- free of charge. One of our favorite resources is their Home Safety Checklist. People with Alzheimer's and other dementias have a significantly increased risk of inj...ury. Especially as their disease continues to progress, they may not be able to properly identify a common danger- or the correct way to respond in order to keep them safe. Check out this list, again- courtesy of the Alzheimer's Association. They even offer it in a printable format! It includes general safety tips, as well as checklist items for each room of the home. The Alzheimer's Association also has additional resources just as helpful as their Home Safety Checklist, that they offer to the public free of charge. They're a great place to start for someone looking to support a loved one with cognitive care needs. https://www.alz.org/help-su/resources/home_safety_checklist Ultimately, sometimes additional support is needed. At Your Service Home Care specializes in care for those with Cognitive Care needs. Give us a call today for additional information. We are always happy to be a resource for our community (707) 573-1003 www.ayshomecare.net
