Another great way to help people understand some of the disorders people live with. When people use the word psycho or psychotic they really aren’t understanding what it is that someone who really is effected by psychosis lives with and fights through! Please have a happy Friday! Be safe! #endstigma #mentalhealthawareness

Today’s focus is on Bipolar Disorder. As a mental health advocate it is so difficult when I hear people throw around the phrase bipolar. People can have a range of emotions and should have a range and they should be able to express them without fear of judgment and just because one minute they are one way and the next they are another does not mean they have Bipolar Disorder. There is a lot more depth to the issue. #endstigma #mentalhealthawareness

Wednesday was all about anxiety one of the most common diagnosis. There are a variety of ways anxiety effects people and a variety of ways to treat it. If you have tried one thing and it didn’t work don’t give up there are other skills and interventions that can help. #endstigma #mentalhealthawareness

Tuesday’s topic was about Dissociation. Interesting to think that 75% of people may have had an episode of dissociation.

NAMI started the week off with Borderline Personality Disorder. In my opinion Borderline Personality Disorder is one that strikes fear in those that hear they may have the diagnosis and those that are there supporters and even mental health clinicians will shy away. Here is some good clarification. #endstigma #MentalHealthAwareness

So I got caught up in many things and missed the opportunity to share this great information from NAMI...this week is Mental Illness Awareness Week. NAMI has been sharing great information and insights into what people with mental illness want others to know. I am going to catch up and sorry for bombardment of information but it is so interesting! I would love to have some discussions if people would like!

We are not all trained in how to support people going through a crisis. Here are some great ideas for you to think about if you know someone who needs support. #mentalhealthmatters #itsoktonotbeok #endthestigma

This topic is super important and often uncomfortable on a regular day....on a day in a pandemic with heightened struggles with racial injustice, a stress inducing Election Day pending and this topic is one of utmost concern...then throw on the crazy weather and apocalyptic skies and mental health issues are rampant! Check on your loved ones! If you have someone you know struggles, just reach out! Heck, check on yourself! I know that I was really struggling a week ago due to... really hot weather and we had lost yet another person and then I did some restorative self care... and then the past 2 or 3 days of grey, orange, and yellow skies has been disarming. It has been hard but I have been utilizing my people and the the activities that help me back to baseline. Keep going! We will get through this!! Much love! #mentalhealthmatters #suicidalawareness #itsoktonotbeok #endstigma

It's #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth. Remember you are not alone and there are resources to help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (@800273TALK) offers free, confidential crisis counseling 24/7/365 - and you don’t have to be in crisis to call. #SPM20 #NotAlone

Today is meant to be a day when we express gratitude to those who gave it all for our freedom. As a nation we should feel grateful for our hard fought freedoms and take care of those who have given so much for the rest of us. Thank you to the people who have served as well as their families! In this month about #MentalHealthAwareness we must make sure that those that serve know that it is #OKtoNotBeOk and #YouAreNotAlone. #MentalHealth

Oh my goodness I just realized my posts are a little off and I missed the one for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day on the 7th. I think it is important to get the information out as much as possible so whether it went out on the right day or not it is more important to just have it all out there. May is #MentalHealthAwareness month in hopes that every one knows #MentalHealth effects all of us and you are #NotAlone.
