Favorable Rates to Continue... Room demand is likely to return before any kind of pricing power, according to STR’s Freitag, which should be some relief to planners if not hoteliers. "Average daily rate growth was minimal last year, even with the highest demand on record," he points out. "We’re suggesting that room demand will return to 2019 levels in mid-2023," Freitag adds. "But ADR and RevPAR probably won’t bounce back until 2025. Room demand will bounce back long before p...ricing." From Northstar Meetings Group article #facetoface #meetingprofs

We wanted to share this article and our favorite take-a-way: "It’s easy to neglect your LinkedIn account while you’re employed, but freshening that account up now, when you need it most, is a must. In addition to having a profile for employers and potential connections to view, you can also join event planning-related groups (or whatever group harbors your interests), ask for and provide endorsements from others, and request referrals from those you’ve worked with in the past.... You can reach out to others directly for the sake of connecting with like-minded people, and post and comment so people know that you’re active." #stayrelevant #newjob #continuededucation

It all started with a spunky and groovy hotel gal named Michelle Avery Murphy. After spending 13 years working in hotel sales at companies such as, Wyndham, Starwood and Intercontinental, Murphy decided it was time to take her skills, relationships and knowledge and start her own business. This way she could presents all hotels internationally, find the best fit for clients and continue her passion in the hospitality industry. Being her own boss wasn’t such a bad idea either!... Now Murphy is no ordinary entrepreneur. She built her business starting with a big heart, a generous spirit and the gift of fun. With an infections smile and a genuine laugh, Murphy made her mark by building long standing relationships that have earned her a great reputation amongst clients and hoteliers alike. She truly enjoys mentoring Avery Murphy Rockstars, educating hotel sales professionals and meeting planners about the evolving hospitality industry, getting to know her clients on a personal level, being their advocate and having fun in the process is groovy to her. She is hardworking, knowledgeable and a tough negotiator that helps her clients obtain the best value. She started the meeting site selection business with HelmsBriscoe and while there earned the prestigious President’s Club award 5 times. Then in 2009 and with continued success, she launched her first solo venture, Murphy Turgeon LLC. In 2014, the stars aligned again, additional staff was added and Avery Murphy LLC was founded. When not mentoring Rockstars or assisting clients find more hotel choices, Michelle enjoys family and friends, the beach, traveling, speaking engagements, anything purple and living groovy!

Face Masks Will Be Meetings Attire Safety protocols remain high on the agenda for future events, with more than 80 percent of respondents planning to implement physical distancing, signage, hand sanitizer and other best practices. Seventy percent will mandate the use of face masks as a condition of attendance, and 72 percent will provide masks on-site. More than half (56 percent) will require participants to sign liability waivers to acknowledge possible health risks. Nawn qu...estioned why one-third of respondents don't intend to require masks. "Why are only 70 percent mandating and supplying face masks? Why isn't this 100 percent? What's the reluctance about?" Great questions, please share your thoughts in the comments below:
