Born from an internal revolt at Ferrari in 1961, this ATS GTS is a car few have the chance to see in their lifetime. With the help of Carlo Chiti and Giotto Biz...zarini, the father of the famed Ferrari 250 GTO, ATS (or Automobili Turismo e Sport) aimed to build the car that Enzo Ferrari would not. Their goal was to produce high-performance race cars to create demand for their road cars. Still, with limited funding and intense market competition from established Italian automakers, ATS would only produce a handful of these stunning GT cars. While the company failed to stay afloat, the 2500GT and GTS are now considered shining examples of Italian sportscar history. This year we were entrusted with the care and mechanical restoration of a late model GTS, a mid-engined grand touring car with a bespoke 3.0L V8 engine. We've been carefully documenting each inch of the vehicle for our benefit and the benefit of those lucky enough to encounter an ATS in the future, but nothing has been more exciting than seeing this rare V8 engine roar to life on our dyno. Stay tuned for more information on our ATS project as it unfolds!
