From the Insurance Commissioner dated May 14th, 2020. We pointed this out in our post almost a month ago. It's nice to see the Department of Insurance supporting us in our efforts to make sure that our customers have been treated fairly by the Insurance Companies. It certainly underlines the importance of hiring a body shop that works for you, the vehicle owner rather than for the insurance company! The highlighted portion reads: The Department has been informed that some insurers and other persons engaged in the business of insurance in this state are unfairly taking advantage of the COVID-19 crisis and providing unjustifiably low settlement offers knowing financial need is high and recourse to the civil court system in the state is currently severely limited.

Auto Claims During Covid-19 We've been seeing evidence of an old tactic by some insurance companies. Back during the economic down-turn of 2008, many insurance companies began purposefully writing repair estimate for far lees than the evidence would indicate. They would then promptly pay the claim hoping that that greatly reduced check would get cashed with no repairs and no subsequent additional payments. Now with the shelter-in-place mandates, Insurers are utilizing photo-e...stimating to attempt to settle claims. Most of those estimates are far from providing for a complete repair.
