J3: Jacob’s Journey, Jacob’s Fund and Jacob’s Law. Rick and I were honored to speak today at the Academy of Adoption Assisted Reproduction Attorneys about our ...nightmare in Wisconsin when Judge Jim Troupis took away our parental rights over Jacob in our uncontested case. We discussed how we got the vile Troupis decision overturned, how we won our case against the Troupis-picked Guardian ad Litem to get 85% of the $100,000+ in fees returned to us, why we set up Jacob’s Fund at the Family Equality Council to help other families, and the successful effort to get Jacob’s Law passed in Virginia so no other family has to go through a similar horrific and emotionally gut-wrenching experience. We were pleased to hear that many states have enacted similar legislation, and heard from many that they are trying to get their state legislatures to do the same.
