Nikolas Bunton wrote this article for Blast Magazine several years ago. In light of the California wildfires and the news on prison reform, we find it very relevant today. He visited the prison fire camp and interviewed the warden and the inmates training in fire camp. Nonetheless, a very interesting investigating reporting/writing assignment.

We are happy to announce that Stone Bridge Press author and translator Hiroaki Sato is one of the two recipients of this years Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission ...Translation Prize for his translation of Kansuke Naka's classic Japanese memoir 'The Silver Spoon', a sharp detailing of life at the end of the Meiji period (1912) through the eyes of a boy as he grows into adolescence. Since 1986 this prestigious prize has been awarded annually to outstanding works of translation into English from the Japanese language. This is the 4th time a Stone Bridge Press title has won this award, and we're more than honored. Well done Hiroaki!
