The Grand Foyer at Palais Garnier is a must-see site on your first visit to Paris. I remember visiting and it was breathtaking; someone was kind enough to let me wander in it alone. Resplendent in gold and vibrant jewel-tones, you need not walk too far to see the beauty of the Opera House. The foyer's ceiling was painted by Paul-Jacques-Aime Baudry and represents various moments in music history. Isn't it beyond beautiful? What are some incredibly beautiful sites you have found on your travels? #photographer: @raphaelmetivet __________________________________________ #travelgram #travel #france #paris #palaisgarnier #opera #photography #architecture #art #europe #beautiful #travelphotography #lifestyle #painter #artist

Not to make light of our current situation in our country or the world but sometimes I have to remove myself from the sadness and the overwhelming feeling that comes when I question myself, Am I doing enough? You see I do everything with unbridled passion. Especially art (writing and event design) and the pursuit of pleasure. Some may say the pursuit of happiness but happiness is a form of pleasure is it not? That passion also includes fighting against injustice. I often ...wonder if my passion and all I do offline is enough. However, today I’m giving myself a day off from the wondering. I love shoes. They are a weakness; the more seductive the better. I am head over heels (of course that pun was intended) with these beautiful shoes from @giuseppezanotti. These would pair beautifully with a simple slip dress made of silk and a palm clutch. One of the most disappointing things about this pandemic besides the apparent loss of lives, livelihood, and people’s common sense are the freedoms we lost. It saddens me that we are banned from traveling to other countries. Many of my friends, myself included, have shared photos of previous travel journeys just to reminisce. Whether we are global travelers or tend to stay stateside, we all have experienced the excitement of discovering the hidden gems of a bustling city or t...aking strolls through small villages and towns in the countrysides far removed from tourists. Today’s IG memory is this photo that I shot when I visited Versailles for the first time. The palace was absolutely breathtaking. The details inside and out of Versailles were more beautiful than I imagined as a child. Photos cannot compare to real life but they do have the ability to capture the past and transport us back in vivid reverie. Those are the memories I want to make more of. See more

Princess Beatrice privately marries Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.. Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin, both of whom regularly work with the queen, remodelled the dress and carried out a fitting to ensure that it looked perfect on the bride. The queen famously wore the gown to the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London, in 1962

Empathy doesn’t necessarily have to come from a mutual experience. Empathy comes from understanding how another person’s experiences may have caused them to feel hurt or pain. Compassion is not only recognizing the hurt (in this case in the form of oppression + systemic racism) it is also wanting to remove the source. The key to moving forward is to make an effort that sparks change. You can support the changes that are needed in the world not only by listening but also b...y your actions. It can appear to be a daunting task and you may question yourself as to where to begin. My suggestion is to find a place where you can make a change where you are right now. Start at home. Speak with your children, partner, and extended family. Create conversations with people of color in your communities, schools, and spiritual sanctuaries and listen. Show your compassion by being the catalyst of change. Be consistent and persistent. Form action driven groups with like-minded individuals to show your solidarity for black lives. Allow yourself to be moved to action by your compassion. Let your actions speak of your belief that systemic racism is unacceptable. The only way we are going to eradicate racism is to do our part in every corner of our nation and every corner of the world. No role is too small or insignificant in this fight. Every effort makes a ripple towards the wave of change. See more

A few years back I had the pleasure of working with Weddingchicks on a bridal editorial shot by Lane Dittoe that took place at the Korakia Pensione in Palm Springs. I was so happy that my friend Amy asked me to be a part of this great team of professionals that also included Nancy of Oak and the Owl who became one of my favorite people and friends. The name of the editorial was titled ‘Love is Love.’ We purposely chose an interracial bride and groom. Today I was thinking... how it must be for people in interracial relationships especially for those with families. We put so many conditions on love whether it is religion, ethnicity, what our families say, even age. In a world with almost 8 billion people finding love can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Granted we all have the right to choose who we want to be with but sometimes we limit our scope with constraints put on by society. At times, even by ourselves for reasons we don’t understand or for reasons given to us by others long ago based on biases or prejudice. I wholeheartedly believe love is love and just because a person is pro black and anti-racist does not mean they’re anti-white. Love who you decide to love and don’t let society tell you otherwise. Be with who you decide to be with but never forget the responsibility we all share. That is to make sure that black lives will always matter, no matter what home looks like and no matter who you choose to love. #love #loveislove #relationships #life #couples
