AtBackgrounds Pro Tip: Our goal is to provide clients and applicants a fast and accurate background check experience. Whenever submitting a background check request, be sure to provide a middle name. The middle name is key to matching a criminal record to a person because many individuals share the same first and last names, and even birth dates. Not providing a middle name may result in delays while we obtain that information. Why not use Social Security numbers for a positive ID? Contrary to popular belief, Social Security numbers are not used as primary identifiers in criminal records searches because they are generally not publicly available in court records. For a faster turanround, whenever a middle name is available, submit it with background check requests.

The New York City Council voted in 2019 to ban Cannabis testing for pre-employment purposes for most jobs, with exceptions. The ban officially took effect May 10th.
