We just wanted to say thank you for your support of Measure D-20. We understand these are difficult times for so many, and we recognize that many of you have reservations about the funds actually reaching public safety or being used wisely. Beginning in January, there will be a series of 8-12 study sessions / open meetings to hear feedback from the public on where D-20 funds should be spent. There will also be several council meetings open to the public where the budget (...and allocation of funding) will be discussed. We encourage everyone to attend these meetings, and make your voices heard. The support for your local law enforcement as evidenced by the passage of D-20 was very heartening to the men and women of the police association, especially in these difficult times. While other cities are calling to "defund" their police, instead, our voters chose to invest in public safety. We are very grateful to be part of this community. See more

After much deliberation and discussion, both the Atascadero Police Association and the Atascadero Professional Firefighters Association have concluded that mayoral candidate Josh Donovan and councilmember candidate Nic Mattson have failed to earn our confidence to act in the best interest of public safety if elected. Donovan has leaned on economic development and becoming more business friendly as the solution to funding city services. Donovan stated on social media, I thi...Continue reading

I know how hard it is for our local law-enforcement to do the job they do and that they need our full support. I am fiscally conservative and I believe that public safety is the top priority for local government. At this important time in history, rather than defunding our public safety agencies, we must affirm our commitment to fund them adequately so that our local law enforcement can fully serve and protect our residents. I have read the position of the Atascadero Police... Association and I stand with them in urging you to Vote Yes in support of Atascadero’s local sales tax measure. I trust that the voters in Atascadero will hold future city council members accountable to spend this revenue wisely and for its declared intent: the protection of the residents of Atascadero. Yesterday morning the Atascadero Police Department sent six officers to assist with this initial incident (Sheriff’s press release below). This is an example of the partnerships that we have with neighboring law enforcement agencies.

This photo was taken earlier today and shared with permission from the photographer who posed it to the Everything Atascadero Facebook page. Thank you for noticing us Shawna! When it seems like everyone is trying to catch photo/video of law enforcement officers at their worst, its nice to see someone capture the real policing that occurs in our community every day.

Officers are responding to incidents like these at minimum staffing levels, three officers. This is the same minimum staffing as in the 1980s. Please visit: https://yesond20.org/ to see how you can help your local first responders.

We’ve got your back! For the past several years the Atascadero Police Association (APA) has hosted an annual golf tournament supported by generous donors throughout the area for the benefit of Atascadero Youth Sports.... Recognizing the incredible financial burden placed on small businesses in our community caused by COVID 19, the Association has elected to forgo the 2020 tournament. Instead, the APA will be making donations to youth sports on behalf of businesses in our community. If your business has suffered financial strain and is unable to sponsor youth sports in the way you would like, don’t worry we’ve got your back! Please contact the Atascadero Police Association at [email protected] with sponsorship requests. Donations will be made as long designated funds are available.
