On October 15th, the Covina office had plans to participate in the "Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill." This is an opportunity for health care organizations and facilities to practice earthquake safety and other aspects of emergency planning, along with millions of others across the United States and worldwide. Imagine our Covina office's surprise when at the start of the earthquake drill, the entire Covina building lights went out and smoke filled the first floor necessitatin...g an evacuation of the building. Covina was able to practice their evacuation drill, and all gathered at the designated meeting place as planned. It turned out the elevator room overheated, causing the electrical outage and smoke. You never know, but Covina was well prepared for the emergency.
