Assisteens Auxiliary of Assistance League Diablo Valley held a drive-by Holiday gift giving to students at Meadow Homes Elementary School. They found a way to still celebrate.

Assistance League - 'TWAS THE YEAR 2020 'Twas the year 2020, when all through the (chapter) house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The doors were all closed and locked up with care... With hopes that we all again soon would be there. Our members were thinking while baking their breads, And visions of programs all danced in their heads. How could we continue to do what we do While following guidelines and staying safe too? We couldn't get haircuts, so wearing our caps, We'd settled our brains--but not for long naps. When out on the street there arose such a clatter We sprang from our cars to see what was the matter. We rolled down our windows and saw in a flash A surprise had arrived in the blink of a lash. The sun that day shone, and its light and its heat Gave a luster of sorts to the sight on the street. For what to our wondering eyes did appear But a miniature library--tiny and dear. Encouraging reading this way was quite slick, and We knew there'd be joy with each book and each pick. Then more and more program ideas they came And ways to be helping--though not quite the same. The minds of our members will never stop churning The wheels of Assistance League just keep on turning! A year to remember that we were together. We met the pandemic and more fire weather. We learned to use masks and hand sanitizer And now cheer vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer! We've learned that our families and friends are our wealth. The Lafayette Chamber welcomes The Park Theater Trust (TPTT) to our membership! We had the opportunity to snap a photo of the The Park Theater Trust (TPTT) Boa...rd of Directors this week, from left: Tracey Karsten Farrell, Kathleen Bowles, Jana Corey, Larry Haydon, Awais Mughal, and Tim Hennessy (not pictured). Originally called together as a Park Theater task force by the City of Lafayette, TPTT is now an independent, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit that plans to restore and operate Lafayette's iconic Park Theater. TPTT’s goals: Own the building for the community of Lafayette; protect the Park Theater from development; and refurbish and retain it for the enjoyment of future generations by revitalizing it into an accessible, inclusive, community-centered cinema, arts and culture hub. By joining the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, TPTT aims to continue its support of, and outreach to, local businesses, community groups and nonprofits, and partner in the post-COVID renaissance of Downtown. Food for Families - Assistance League is partnering with Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank for a food drive. The donated food from the food drive will help to offset the recent 40% increase in demand at the food bank. Please bring shelf stable food to the food barrels located at Assistance League - 2711 Buena Vista Av. Walnut Creek.

Re-Opening Sale 50% Off everything at Assistance League Thrift Shop located at 3521 Golden Gate Way Lafayette. New business hours -Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Masks and social distancing will be observed. Donations accepted Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 to 11:00 a.m. or until full.

Assistance League in action preparing 350 Baby BAgs for Contra Costa County Social Services for Aspiranet to disribute to new mothers whose babies are at risk.
