All the hate and violence has been breaking our hearts, creating rage, fear and anxiety. But we need to advocate and speak louder to support one another at these times. Please check on one another and stay safe. . . Our hearts and thoughts are with the families today in Atlanta. #racisimisavirus #stopasianhate #stopaapihate
Today is International Woman’s Day & we celebrate the women who inspired ripples of change This year’s theme for International Woman’s Day is #ChoosetoChallenge! A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let's all choose to challenge. Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality. - @ internationalwomensday_global... Since it began in 1911, The day recognizes the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women globally, and it's a call to action for gender parity. There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish. Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of the United States Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. G.D. Anderson #IWD2021 #ChoosetoChallenge #kfamla @febfisetyawati @SFdirewolf @shinaela_if
Please enjoy this sweet story that one of our AFFI social workers shared with us last month! Thank you for supporting us and allowing us to continue spreading love and making special memories like these with our most vulnerable community members.
On March 1st we recognized (Samil Independence Movement) also known as Korea's Independence Movement Day which is to commemorate the day that Koreans openly resisted Japanese occupation and fought for their independence. On March 1, 1919, a series of demonstrations took place across the peninsula. 33 nationalists made up the core of the movement and read the Korean Declaration of Independence proclamation in Seoul. It read: We herewith proclaim the independence of Korea ...and the liberty of the Korean people. We tell it to the world in witness of the equality of all nations and we pass it on to our posterity as their inherent right. We make this proclamation, having 5,000 years of history, and 20,000,000 united loyal people. We take this step to insure to our children for all time to come, personal liberty in accord with the awakening consciousness of this new era. This is the clear leading of God, the moving principle of the present age, the whole human race’s just claim. It is something that cannot be stamped out, stifled, gagged, or suppressed by any means. During the movement 7,000 people were killed, 16,000 wounded, and many lost property. More than 45,000 people were arrested and 10,000 tried and convicted. Today is a day to remember those people who risked their lives and took the first steps to fight for their country. Thank you for your courage and bravery.
