I have never been able to understand the need to stifle someone else's self expression, and since sources of joy are few and far between sometimes let people be their own. The Coyote Series is back and celebrating LGBTQ+ Hxstory Month Today we feature Joshua Alban! Swipe to read his poem in part 1 of his feature. Part 2 will follow shortly! . I am a Communications major with a concentration in Media Studies. I work as a College & Career Specialist as well as a Media Coordinator. I aid at-risk young adults in the community with college and career readiness. I also manage our Social Media/Marketing while creating designs that are diver...se, inclusive, and equitable. Overall, I love what I do because I make a difference in the community while being myself! My identity in the LGBTQ+ Community influences my creativity because it is a large part of my experience in life. Because of the pain I have felt in the past, I am able to express myself and easily empathize with other people, especially through creative works. When I was younger, I was taught to be proud of my upbringings through what my grandparents and my culture. Having heard stories of how my grandparents came to this to have a better future and an opportunity to be something more than their lives in Guatemala.
