I remember when I started in this business, it was dominated by men. Not meaning there weren’t women photographers, just that women weren’t taken as seriously as the men. I remember being told that women weren’t technical shooters, we just pressed a button. That we also lacked the creativity and vision to execute an image that was visually compelling. And before you start thinking this is a man-bashing post, many of the things we heard came from the mouths of other women. S...omething changed though. We fought for our place, we proved that we could be technical shooters and illicit emotional vulnerability in our subjects. We fought with grace and dignity all while the naysayers got quieter and quieter. We proved our worth in the industry and we became forced to be reckoned with. To those of you who are struggling because you feel like you are not good enough... place every single stone of negativity that you produce or is thrown at you on the ground and step on it. Before you know it, those stones will have created a staircase out of your dark hole and to a better place in your life and your business. It will be hard, there will be struggle, sometimes it seems like an endless hustle... but it will be so worth it. See more

Family time today, lots of giggles, snuggles and making homemade ice cream and cookies... carb loading apparently This year we’ve enforced strict weekends off and this one happened to be one of them. Still working here and there editing, but no shoots/proposals/weddings. It feels so good

Late night working, because it’s that season right now. Many 3-4 hour nights I’ve slept this week... anyone else? Anyone with a newborn feels me I did manage to find a way to hack my sleep, especially when I get very little of it. One of the things is I found this new pillow a chiropractor recommended to me and OMG you guys. It’s like finally no neck pain! I just bought Jay one too. I’ll post it on my stories sometime In the meantime, sharing this sweet frame from Reagan & Parker’s engagement session in Laguna. We’re back there for their wedding in August at @theranchlb
