In solidarity. I am a white female business owner. My life’s work has been centered around providing safe and healing space. For more than 20 years I’ve studied, practiced, and taught about mindfulness and self-awareness. I think I’m a pretty good person. But this doesn’t mean I don’t also contribute to perpetuating racism and the continued oppression of marginalized communities. Because I do. ... It’s tempting to point all my fingers at the racism happening over there. But one of our few guiding principles at Asha is, It starts with me. Racism, white privilege, and white supremacy are woven into the fabric of American life and the effects of this system live inside me (no matter how good, kind, spiritual, or well-intentioned I am or try to be). Taking full responsibility can often (mostly?) be hard to swallow. Like now. But friendswe can do hard things. And we must. **To the good people in the white community** If you believe that racial bias and racism are only alive out there but not inside you and me, please...lean in with me. Place both feet on the ground and take a deep breath: It’s time to get honest and do some deep work. This important step allows our actions to truly serve a mission of equality, which I know matters to you. Consider with me for a moment how less overt, passive acts of privilege and racial bias might be as oppressive and damaging as those we tend to be so easily appalled by. Because they are. Less overt racial violence often seems to be less of an issue because we don’t understand the effects. Let’s be willing to learn and do better. We ALL have work to do. Honest, loving, brave work that can make a difference. I recommend the workbook, Me and White Supremacy by Layla Saad. If you’re triggered by this post and/or the book title itself, warm up with White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo. If you think these books don’t apply to you...I get it, I’ve been there but, my friends, they most likely do. **To all our friends, this is not enough. We can and will keep acting.** Link below to see our actions for today + how we’d love to help you take action too. -Cori See more

FOR ALL THE MOMS written by Amy Young To those who gave birth to their first child this yearwe celebrate with you. ... To those who lost a childwe mourn with you. To those in the trenches with little ones every day who wear the badge of food stainswe appreciate you. To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running awaywe mourn with you. To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointmentwe walk with you. (And please forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make it harder than it is) To the foster moms, mentor moms, and spiritual momswe need you. To those who have warm and close relationships with your childrenwe celebrate with you. To those who have disappointment, heart ache, and distance with your childrenwe sit with you. To those who lost their motherswe grieve with you. To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own motherwe acknowledge your experience. Those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhoodwe are better for having you in our midst. Those who have aborted childrenwe remember them and you on this day. To those longing to be married and mothering your own childrenwe mourn that life has not turned out the way you longed for it to be. To those who step-parent, we walk with you on these complex paths. To those who envisioned lavishing love on grandchildren, yet that dream is not to be, we grieve with you. To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming yearwe grieve and rejoice with you! To those who placed children up for adoptionwe commend you for your selflessness and remember how you hold that child in your heart. And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprisingwe anticipate with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. Mothers, we honor you.
