Checking in on the Oakland site. This little one was just two months old when we broke ground and now he’s an active toddler! Our opening is still pending repairs requested for the entire building. Fingers crossed that it will happen soon!

We (and our little helper here!) have been working hard to get your packages out before the holidays. While holiday tea sets are sold out, there’s still time to send other gifts before the new year!

We have made the difficult decision to close Asha SF for 2021. When we reopened in May, we had hoped that enough business would return, but staying open in downtown SF has unfortunately not been financially sustainable. Thank you to all of the SF customers who supported us these past few months it has been a joy seeing your faces and sharing good tea. We would also like to thank Katie, Nate, Karina and Maria for keeping their spirits high and making the best of a toug...h situation. Our last day will be this Thursday, December 24th. We hope to reopen in 2022. We will see you all on the other side (or at Asha Berkeley and soon Oakland). Until then, stay safe and healthy! See more

Happy Father’s Day to this dad and all the dads, grandads and father-figures in the world! Here is a pic of David checking out the Oakland space right before COVID-19 changed everything. Construction has restarted as the Bay Area moves towards re-opening, and we are grateful to have @cooklinesf and @youngamericacreative help us push this project to completion. We neglected to post on Mother’s Day so would like to also share a pic of Diana and the kids checking on the space late last month. In Japan, the process of growing and producing #matcha are handled separately; farmers send their leaves to a #tea auction or business partner, and producers purchase the leaves and grind them into matcha. Nine years ago this month, we signed a lease for a storefront at the corner of University and Shattuck, with the dream of creating a welcoming space for everyone, from tea novices to aficionados. We chose Berkeley because the concept of Asha fit so perfectly with the values of its community a locally-owned, tea-centric cafe that serves hand-crafted drinks made from home-made and seasonal ingredients and whole leaf artisan tea sourced from sustainable farms. When we quietly ...opened our doors in July 2012, the people of Berkeley welcomed us with open arms, and showed their love for local businesses again these past few months by donating $1.23 million and counting to the #BerkeleyReliefFund. We were just notified that we will be receiving a $2,000 donor-funded Business Continuity Grant thank you to everyone that donated and to the #CityofBerkeley for administering this fund.
