......... BLiSS TiP: .......... There is a very fine line between: Being self expressed...... AND Caring about your emotional footprint on your community! Just because I have an opinion - and I believe that I'm right - it doesn't give me permission to completely bash people who have differing opinions and thoughts on the same subject. In fact - when I have stayed open to TRULY HEAR the varying arguments- without waiting for my turn to defend my position - I have often learned something of extreme value. It doesn't mean that I changed my mind necessarily - however I was able to better empathize with them. Vomiting negative words on FB or other places about people who have different opinions is very divisive. Ask yourself, "why am I feeling the need to change the opinions of my friends about this?" Often when I am pushing too hard - it's because I myself am not so sure - so I'm overcompensating to seem confident when I'm not! I'm 43 years old - and I know that I have been wrong about my opinions many many times - so I'm less and less committed to being "certain" that mine is right! ......... BLiSS TiP: .......... Each contemporary glass art piece is one of a kind. It is made of glass that was destined for the landfill - tempered... green glass - that were going to be discarded. I rescue the abandoned glass - which over the years has come in many colors and textures - and take it to my studio in Inglewood. Each large piece is carefully covered and then brutally smashed! Then the pieces drop like diamonds into a large bin. This is where the work starts - each glass piece is lovingly put back together - like pieces of a puzzle - in two layers. Finally the reclaimed glass gets tack fused in a large kiln overnight. So far - 27 tons have been saved from the dump. As the glass breaks in different shapes and has different markings and shades - each up-cycled art piece is completely unique.
