Our #SaturdaySpotlight goes to Academy of Art University School of Fine Art Painting & Printmaking’s Jess Velarde! Jess is an oil painter known for using rhyth...mic brushwork and rich color to create scenes that bring moments of beauty, transcendence, and inspiration into everyday spaces. Born and raised on California’s Central Coast, early exposure to the arts and a deep connection to the beauty of the natural world shaped the direction of her work evident in her early landscapes as well as her current botanical and figurative paintings. Her work embraces the materiality of oils on canvas through brave, textural interpretations of light and shadow that straddle the line between realism and impressionism. While knowing she wanted to pursue painting from a young age, Jess worked as a professional photographer for eight years before returning to school to earn her MFA in Painting from Academy of Art University, where she also studied in Florence, Italy. She now works full time as a Fine Artist, creating paintings for collectors around the world from her home studio in Los Angeles. We are so impressed with your work, Jess! See more of her incredible paintings here https://bit.ly/3uV2ljp

It's #InternationalWomensDay! And here at Indiegogo, we are celebrating all month long with a new social series on A Day in the Life of women founders. We're co...mmitted to uplifting female-identifying entrepreneurs and innovators, and helping them thrive everyday throughout the year. But International Women's Day is a particularly important occasion to acknowledge all the hard work that female-identifying folks have to do to have their ideas taken seriously and to find the funding to make those ideas into a reality. In a world where venture capital funding still goes primarily to white men, there are very real hurdles to building a business when you aren’t white and male. This month, we'll be highlighting the stories of female-identifying entrepreneurs to inspire you! Read on to learn more, get inspired, and join us all month long! #IWD2021 See more
