This pandemic has affected the education system in many ways, but none as big as the shift from in-person to virtual teaching. With change comes opportunity, but also challenges. The shift to virtual classrooms makes it hard for a bond to form between a teacher and their students, so educators have had to come up with creative solutions. Faculty Futures Lab: Initiative for Inclusive Leadership is a podcast created by arts professors at SDSU to talk about their experiences te...aching virtually. Whether they are sharing innovative fixes to new challenges or discussing different ways to grow faculty leadership, this podcast serves as a testament to the skills and ingenuity of professors within the arts here at SDSU. One of our favorite forms of mathematics is jazz...that's right, jazz! Jazz, with all of its complex rhythms, along with its unorthodox and infinite combination of notes, is simply a form of math that you can hear and dance to. This is just one example of how the line between the Arts and STEM is more blurred than we think, in fact there is no line at all. The next time you enjoy a SDSU jazz concert, make sure to applaud them on their musicianship as well as their mathemati...cal expertise! Photo taken from SDSU Archive

SDSU has an unfailing passion for fashion, and this throwback photo of the Drama department exemplifies that perfectly! Fashion is an art form that we all partake in regardless of culture or socio-economic status. It creates a space in which diversity is welcomed and innovation is applauded, so fashion provides a great opportunity to learn from those around you. #ArtsAliveSDSU Photo taken from SDSU Archive.

Many art studios have had to temporarily shut their doors this year due to COVID-19 closures. This has created a unique problem for artists pushed out of their usual creative space, now having to create at home. This gave Aztec Student Union Board Culture, Arts, & Film Chair Shak Singleton the idea to host Home Is Where Your Art Is, an online art gallery event held on October 29 at 3 p.m. PST. This gallery is meant to showcase the work of talented artists and highlight how ar...t has been used to serve, speak, and connect with the community. Submissions do not need to focus on this topic to be considered for the gallery, though. If you are interested in submitting your work for this showcase, you can do so at the link below. Submissions close on October 23, so make sure to submit your work soon! https://bit.ly/2FOCDZb Photo provided by SDSU Archive.
