It's very likely that you have heard of the many benefits of retinol in moisturizers and serums, but what about for the eyes and lips? Retinol, in a nutshell, is a deeply renewing ingredient that increases cell turnover to reveal fresh, healthy skin. It is widely considered the golden ingredient in skincare, as it works for acne concerns, texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation. Rhonda Allison's Eye & Lip Renew Serum is a potent mixture of vitamin C and retinol that gently, but e...fficiently, resurfaces and smooths the skin. Due to its potency, I do recommend starting slow with this product, using it only at night. Begin by using it every other night for two weeks. If no redness or dryness occurs, then amp it up to nightly! I absolutely adore this formulation, as it is an occlusive gel texture that really pushes the active ingredients in, while keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Fall is finally here! Family gatherings, gifts, cozy fires, and sweet treats immediately come to mind. Naturally, I am fond of chocolate and tend to use this time of year for a reason to indulge a bit more than normal. You may ask yourself, are breakouts just an inevitable byproduct of this treat? You’ll be comforted to know that chocolate is not the cause of your acne. The real culprit that is causing breakouts is iodides. This pesky compound is hidden within many of our fav...orite foods and supplements in the form of iodized salt, biotin, potassium iodide, or kelp. So, as we reach for our mugs of hot chocolate and other chocolate goodies let us take more of a holistic approach to combating our acne. A few of the most common foods that are high in iodine are cod, squid, kelp, butter, cheddar cheese, and milk. Monitoring your intake of these foods and continuing a balanced diet of fruit, vegetables, healthy protein, and proper hydration is a wonderful start.
