Part of that commitment includes a new Mental Health Facility to help communities most impacted by COVID-19, including the highly impacted homeless community. The renovated facility incorporates a neutral color palette to convey a calm and soothing feeling. Morana Medved, Director of Interiors at Artik Art & Architecture, as well as an educator at SJSU, will present at the u...pcoming Building Tech Forum on how to educate design students about embodied carbon reduction. The Materials Carbon Action Network (materialsCAN) states that embodied carbon will be responsible for almost half of total new construction emissions between now and 2050. Handling embodied carbon is an important objective for innovative sustainable design. FLINT sent us Overfelt High School’s construction update, and we’re so excited we had to share! The interior construction is moving forward, and our renderings are becoming reality! East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) wanted to create a facility that brought people together to celebrate the arts, entertainment, and student/ family support services. The Summit Denali campus is close to completion! Summit Public Schools, in collaboration with Artik designers, converted a 40-year-old light industrial building into a 25,600 SF classroom building with welcoming exterior finishes and thoughtful interior layout. Newly installed skylights provide sufficient natural light. Vibrant and playful interior colors resonate with Summit Public School’s energetic high school campus life. Summit Denali is an excellent demonstration of a...daptive reuse of an existing building, serving more than 400 high school students and faculties on a 1.5-acre site in Sunnyvale, CA. To make the campus fully functional with limited space, Artik helped design and coordinate the installation of a mechanical parking lift on campus, which is the first mechanical parking lift in the city of Sunnyvale. We’re proud to announce an exciting collaboration between the City of Milpitas, Artik, and Biggs Cardosa! Residents of Milpitas, CA will soon have access to the new Montague Expressway Pedestrian Overcrossing as part of VTA's work on the BART expansion to San Jose. Working closely with the City of Milpitas and Biggs Cardosa, Artik’s designers focused their imagination and creativity on the public art. Their collaboration produced the unique 186 fins that adorn the new brid...ge with fin points following the ridgeline of the Mission Peak area of the Diablo Range seen from the City of Milpitas. The fins come in 21 different colors of the rainbow, blending seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood. The 21 colors are assigned by a unique system that identifies intersections when the ridgeline crosses a specific elevation. The color change varies within each hue and denotes musical harmony and melody. Artik is proud to share a recently completed mural that was designed and painted by local artist and Artik Designer, Eric Vasquez. The mural was temporarily displayed at 22 s. 2nd street in San Jose, CA during the recent protests. Eric, along with fellow artists, showed their solidarity by painting boarded up buildings in downtown San Jose to promote messages that support the Black Lives Matter Movement. The imagery was created to empower and uplift communities that have suffered from inequality and injustice.
