Etsuko Ichikawa's glass sculptures, burnt paper drawings and films offer a meditative take on themes of water, fire, earth and radioactivity. Ichikawa creates l...yrical, flowing abstractions from the encounter of contradictory elements - fire and paper - which she complements with watercolors. Ichikawa was born in Tokyo and is based in Seattle; her work has been exhibited at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Seattle Art Museum, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and / The Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo. Her sculptures, drawings and films can currently be seen in a solo show at Winston Wachter Fine Art in NYC (through 2/16, at bit.ly/etsukonyc); and in group shows at Bellevue Arts Museum (in Bellevue, WA, through 4/19, at bit.ly/EtsukoWA) and Boise Art Museum (in Boise, IA, through 2/3 at: bit.ly/EtsukoIA).
