This is a letter that we just received. Keep up the good work guys!! you are amazing. SAVED BY THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER Despite this drought, rain did fall in copious amounts a few years ago. I was in my 2005 Passat Wagon, on my way to work to Martinez over the Benicia Bridge and there was flooding at the overpass between the entrances to 280 South and North.... I hesitated, I had seen a car go through before me. Concentrating my hope on my AWD vehicle, I plowed through the water. My car stopped and wouldn’t restart! The water was coming in under the door. I started freaking out! I sat for a time while cars behind me turned around and headed for higher ground and cars on the other side of the pond, no longer a large puddle, did the same. A large flat-bed tow truck was inching across the pond and motioned me to roll down the window. The driver asked if I needed help, could he call someone for me. I was at a total loss; I had had my car less than 6 months and felt stupid, stupid, stupid! This tow truck driver offered to tow me out! He said he wouldn’t charge me! A good heart! I took his offer and waded through the pond to get into the cab of his truck. A young boy was also there, the driver’s son. He scooted over and made room for me. I was flabbergasted and thankful! If I had sat much longer with the water rising I would have been in worse shape! He took me to a spot in Martinez with a large parking lot and said that AAA could pick me up there. He said again that there would be no charge and was truly gracious in my time of need. I had called my husband to come down to meet me to take me home. Before I left, I also gave the driver a $20, he tried to shrug it off but I insisted, as a tip! I looked over at the rescue driver’s son and said Your father is a kind man. Grow up to be like him! I think often, especially when it used to rain, of my experience and remember with gratitude and fondness of my experience: Saved by the Tow Truck Driver! See more
