Please note the second notice we have placed on our door. Arnie’s ATV has been closed due to Covid-19 since March 23, 2020. Meanwhile it is snowy plover nesting season and the Coastal Commission had mandated the beach remain closed through their nesting season (March thru September) since some of our birds made nests outside the designated nesting areas. Arnie’s ATV and all the other vendors out here at the Dunes will be closed through Snowy Plover nesting season and await news from California State Parks and Recreation for a date the gates will be open for us to return to business.

The Coastal Commission is once again overreaching their authority with the issuance of a Cease and Desist Order to CLOSE the ODSVRA. This is a clear violation ...of their own Coastal Act laws and regulations! The science is behind us but the politics is not! Time to put on the political pressure!! Please call the names on the list below and give them an earful. If you call this evening they can be back at work Monday morning with a voicemail box full of support for the ODSVRA. You will most likely be leaving a message on their voice mail or with an assistant but messages matter, time to fill some in-boxes. Once you’ve made your phone calls, post below and tag a friend! Our time is up! It’s been a year since the CCC set their demands for State Parks to comply with and ONCE AGAIN State Parks has let us down. The time is now to begin making phone calls! Please call the decision makers below and let them know your thoughts on closures at the ODSVRA and how the CCC is misusing their authority. Remind them the mission of the CCC is to guarantee access to California’s coast line for ALL recreation, not just the forms recreation the CCC approves of! Remind the decision makers the ODSVRA is a STATE LEGISLATED OHV area and the CCC has no jurisdiction over decisions being made in the operations of that park.
