So very thankful for the firefighters, police officers, sheriffs, 911 operators, dispatch, and support staff who are fighting so hard to protect all of us. Thinking of their families who love and worry about them. Thankful also to everyone who organizes the information to keep us safe and informed! Please let us know if you need support or know of any of our Arete families who do. Register for CodeRED Emergency Alerts in Advance of Countywide Test August 16... The County of Nevada will be testing the CodeRED Emergency Alert system on August 16. This is an opt-in, mass notification system to communicate critical emergency information, such as Evacuation Warnings and Orders. All residents registered for these alerts will receive a test call, email, and text on Monday, August 16. No action is required on the day of the test. Register for CodeRED Emergency Alerts today by creating a managed account at ReadyNevadaCounty.org/EmergencyAlerts, or by calling Connecting Point at 2-1-1 or 1-833-DIAL211 for over-the-phone assistance. Be sure to add all members of your household with access to a cell phone to your account. Pro-tip! Avoid accidentally ignoring the emergency alert calls as spam. Add CodeRED Emergency Alerts to your phone’s contacts, (866) 419-5000 or (855) 969-4636. NOTE: CodeRED emergency alerts will not be used for every fire in Nevada County. Alerts will be used only when an incident is deemed a serious potential threat to life and property (Evacuation Warning) or an immediate threat to life (Evacuation Order). Many factors are considered when determining whether an Evacuation Warning or Order is issued, such as the size of the fire, rate of spread, number of available suppression resources, wind, temperature, topography, and proximity to residences. Know Your Evacuation Zone When an evacuation warning or order is necessary, these emergency alerts are issued by evacuation zones. Authorities will use zone names in emergency alerts, media releases, and social media to notify residents which areas are under an Evacuation Warning or Order. Residents are encouraged to be familiar with the evacuation zones they live and work. Find your evacuation zones at community.zonehaven.com by entering your home or work address into the search bar.

Thinking of all of our Arete families and staff who are evacuated or packed and ready for the notification to go. We plan to be open for Summer Camp tomorrow, but may have limited office and support staff as we do have peeps who are evacuated. Thanks for your patience.

Arete Charter Academy Blended Middle School- Arete is so excited to announce that we will be opening a blended middle school for 6-8th grades for the 2021-2022 School Year. Students will be invited onto campus Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am-2pm and will receive direct instruction from amazing credentialed Arete teachers. There will be a lunch break and electives. This program is perfect for students who need more direct instruction and social interaction with other... students. Lessons will be hands-on, interactive, and engaging! Arete Charter Academy’s Blended Middle School Program is an interactive mix of students learning on campus through teacher facilitated instruction (five hours per day, three days a week) and at home assigned learning for two days a week. On days when students are not working in the Resource Center, they continue to learn at home under the supervision of parents, using curriculum and resources provided or approved by their teachers. This is not merely an online program; it is designed to keep kids active and moving with a combination of online and textbook learning, exciting experiments, hands-on activities, and more! All students are supported by their assigned Educational Advisor who monitors their individual progress. They may also receive additional instruction from staff who are available to provide academic interventions, as needed. The combination of teacher guidance and student independence with ongoing monitoring and support helps students gain experience and develop skills to empower them and embrace a love of life-long learning. The program, including curriculum, supplies, staff, and electives is $3250. There will be no cost to parents. The fee will be paid with Arete Student Instructional Funds. Also, Arete will provide a bus from Magnolia to Arete in the mornings. Your child can ride a Magnolia bus to Magnolia, or you can drop them off at Magnolia, and then they board Bus 27 to Arete. Then families will be responsible to pick up their kiddos at 2pm at Arete or carpool with other families. As this program includes having students on campus for more than the 20% (or six hours a week) that is considered home school, students must have full and current vaccinations or a valid medical waiver. People, you knocked our socks off with your generosity. We are literally walking around the school here with no socks on. It's so embarrassing. :) We just received news that we made it into the garden match part that included a $200 grant. That means we raised a total of $1140 towards our sweet little garden. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Arete Charter Academy 21.12.2020

If you were ever thinking of contributing to Arete's Butterfly Garden, now is the time. We are #112 on the list of funds most raised and are set to receive a grant of $200. If we drop to spot 116 before midnight, we drop to the $100 grant slot. Anyone want to keep us up in the green seat??!!! We're in the final hours our 30-day fundraising campaign and are working hard to reach our goal here: https://donate.seedmoney.org/5/arete-charter-academy-garden Our friends at SeedMone...y, the nonprofit hosting our campaign, have 205 challenge grants available on a competitive basis. The more we are able to raise, the larger the grant we can qualify to receive. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us inch closer to our final goal. Thanks for your support!

Arete Charter Academy 05.12.2020

We are half-way through our 30-day fundraising campaign and are making a big push today in celebration of Giving Tuesday, the biggest day of the year for online giving. Our friends at SeedMoney, the nonprofit hosting our campaign, have an additional, time-sensitive grant we'd love to win: a $400 gift card to Gardeners Supply Company that we could really use for buying tools and supplies. All you need to do to enter us into the running for that grant is make a donation of any amount to our campaign here: https://donate.seedmoney.org/5/arete-charter-academy-garden On Wednesday, SeedMoney will randomly choose one donor as the lucky winner. If you happen to be that person, not only will you win a $400 gift card for us, but you'll also win a $100 gift card for yourself. Thanks for supporting our work this Giving Tuesday!
