When we began this remodel project we wanted to add symmetry and interest to the room. The existing ceiling had a pretty severe pitch that followed the roofline. We worked with the builder to create a gabled ceiling with wood paneling, a ridge beam, and boxed rafters. We also reworked the windows for a better relationship with the space.We also added beams and wood paneling to add some character to the space. These design decisions made a significant difference in the atmosphere of the completed space. We also reworked the ‘grab & go’ style café space at the front of the hotel, adjacent to the lobby. When revisiting an old project it is not uncommon to find that small changes have been made. This is especially common in hospitality because it is a fast moving environment where there is heavy traffic and use. There were only a few changes El Dorado Kitchen, however, they were noticeable departures from the intent of the original design. One of the changes that had been made was the material at the banquette backs and the stone at the table tops. At some point they had been... reupholstered in a textured vinyl that wasn’t in keeping with the rest of the space. Daydreaming about our trip to Ireland last Summer while sheltering in place this St. Patrick’s Day. The road ahead may seem long but thinking positive. Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Our decorative painter created these faux bois samples to show us the variation that would be seen in the color and graining once the finish was applied to the intended ceiling. We wanted this faux bois to be true to life, rather than stylized, so it was importan that these samples were just right. We worked with a studio in Italy to create this custom Venetian glass chandelier. When we import a light fixture from overseas we always send it to @dogforklamparts to make sure it is UL tested and listed. It is amazing how far outdoor fabrics have come in the past decade! In a lot of cases it is hard to even tell the difference between indoor and outdoor materials. When it’s possible we visit our workrooms to review pieces during production. In this instance we stopped by @krollfurniture to review the nailhead placement on this custom Chesterfield sofa. We like to take our clients to the workroom for a sit-test prior to the completion of and upholstery piece. A sit-test allows clients to make slight adjustments to the cushion fill, seat height, etc. so that the piece is perfect for their personal preferences.
