This is Sean Davis at Apollo Moto Racing; and I wanted to say thank you to everyone in this community who has inspired me, everyone who has supported me, everyone who has competed with me; ...and anyone else who has smashed that "Like" button! Two years from the moment of inception; 500 "Likes" may seem like a rather small mile-stone to boast about....... And I suppose it IS a rather arbitrary threshold. Nevertheless, it fills me with energy to see this thing growing; slowly, but surely. Product Showcase! Safety FIRST! Apollo Moto Racing would like share an exciting product from one of the many hardworking members of the Motorized Bicycling Community!... D.A.M. Good Engineering -http://www.damgood.com/cycle.html Feast your eyes on this beautifully designed 'Dual Drive' rear hub! The most notable design feature is the ability to mount a standard ISO 6 Bolt Disc Rotor to the Right hand side of the rear hub. This is done securely through the use of locating pins, as can be seen in the images below. This innovative design utilizes the 'thread on' rear free-wheel drive cog to securely fasten any standard ISO 6 Bolt Disc Rotor of your choice to the Right hand side of the rear hub. This allows the left hand ISO 6 Bolt flange to be used for the drive sprocket ONLY -ELIMINATING the forward-backward-forward loading that occurs when the disc rotor and drive sprocket are located on the same side of the hub. This is all wrapped around an elegant 36 Hole, Sealed Bearing Aluminum Hub Body. Apollo Moto Racing believes this is the way forward for rear brake systems on Motorized Bicycles. Want to know how I learned about the 2-Stroke Engine? WELL! I started with the books by Gordon Jennings and Graham Bell.... -If you have not read them, do a Google search, they are free to download. But then, deep in the pages of a forum called "kiwibiker" some member posted the LINK OF LINKS! I have already mentioned Graham Bell, but some people you may not know (but seriously should if you wan't to under-stand the mystery that is the 2-stroke engine) are Frits Overmars, and Jan Thiel. Who is Frits Overmars and Jan Thiel you ask? The head of Engine Development for Derbi's 125GP and 250GP 2-Stroke MotoGP Program. Derbi was later purchased by Piaggio, who also owner Aprilia, and thus Frits and Jan became the head of engine development for Aprilia. This is where they took Aprilia's state of the art (for the year 2000) RSW engine, and re-designed it into what we know today as the winningest 125GP Engine there ever was. The Aprilia RSA125 (Ridden by the likes of Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, and Johan Zarco, to name a few) This Aprilia RSA Engine DOMINATED the 2-Stroke 125GP Class in MotoGP from 2001 to 2010; when the geniuses at Dorna decided 2-strokes were too expensive, and mandated that all classes would be 4-stroke only. The Aprilia RSA Engine is THE state of the Art in 2-stroke engine development (as of the year 2011, when development on the 2-strokes stopped). It's design is copied today by anyone looking for the highest power out-put 2-stroke engine that can be built. Now, wouldn't it be awesome if there was some place on the internet where Frits Overmars, Jan Thiel, and Graham Bell hung out, and answered question about 2-stroke engine theory and design.
