Did you know that There are more than one million (1,000,000) words in the English language, and an average adult uses from 200,000 to 400,000 different words in everyday speech. To learn to read all of that, by memorizing a 10 word spelling list every week, would take nearly 80 years! Phonemes - the sounds we hear in words. Whether you are a baby learning to talk from its mother or an adult studying a foreign language, you have to start tuning in to the sounds and making so...me sense of them. Phonics a written code which translates sounds into a visual image. The English language includes 44 phonemes which we spell out by using the 26 letters of the alphabet. The symbols that spell out sounds are called phonograms. There are 74 phonograms and 30 spelling rules to go with them. Not an impossible task! With English Wiz, your child can listen and learn. This makes reading and spelling so much easier.
First steps: Adding by counting up is a good way to start, because that’s what adding is about. Yes, it is important to learn 2 + 2 = 4 (and all of those) by heart. But first, children need to know what addition really is, so they can use it properly. Adding Counters from Math Wiz Grade 1:
