THIS Monday we have another yummy opportunity to support Mission Elementary School! 03/01/2021 4:00pm-8:00pm 4418 Century Blvd in Pittsburg (by In and Out) Online Ordering Code: DKGBNY7... How to Online Order: 1) Access the Chipotle app or order on their website. 2) Choose "Pickup" and select the above Pittsburg location 3) Build your order with all your favs. 4) Once you're ready to place your order, input Mission's unique ordering code DKGBNY7 in the "Enter a Promo Code" section. Don't forget to click "Apply" 5) Provide payment information and submit your order for pickup (not delivery). REMINDER: Your pickup MUST be within the hours of Mission's schedule fundraiser. Helpful tip: Once you apply Mission's fundraiser code, your cart will show "Fundraiser" and the amount of -$0.01. Don't panic--this is totally normal and how Chipotle tracks the code in their system. Note: Giftcards used during the fundraiser do not count towards total donated sales, but purchases made with an existing gift card will count. Ordering In-Person: I'm not sure if you can order in person, but if you try it and you can, be sure to tell the cashier at checkout BEFORE you pay that you are there for a fundraiser! If you don’t tell our cashier, Mission will not get credit for the sale.

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: God Sees You (2/3/2021) One of the most popular series of books in the 1980’s contained no wordsonly incredibly detailed cartoon drawings chock full of colors and images. The reader’s goal: To find a young man dressed in a red and white stripped hat and shirt and blue pants. Sounds easy, but most of the time you could sit and stare at a page for the longest time and never find him. It wasn’t that he was hidden in some weird place; it was just that he...Continue reading

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: Rest In God (1/21/2021) Is the following statement right or wrong? Good things happen to you because you’re a basically good person, and if something bad happens to you, it’s because you’ve done something wrong. If you answered wrong, you’d be right! While it’s true that actions have consequences, it’s also true that good and bad things happen to us no matter what choices we make (see Matthew 5:45). Also, if we believe that thought, we limit God beca...use we are saying that He cannot use difficult circumstances because we caused them (but He’s bigger than anything!). We’re also saying the good things are not gifts from Him because we earned them by our actions. Now, I have a confession: I’m a doer. I love setting goals and accomplishing tasks. I get a lot done, but the down side is I can think well of myself when the things I do turn out good and think poorly of myself when things I do go badly. Recently during a prayer meeting I was asked to spend a few moments with God, listening to what He had to me. Here is what I heard in my heart: Ron, you are my son. I love you, and there is nothing you can do (or not do) that will make me love you any more or any less. I will use what you are going through, both good and bad, to draw you closer to me. Rest in me! God loves us no matter what we do. We don’t have to earn His approval (whew!). So here’s your challenge for today: Put your circumstances aside and rest in being a child of God. You are the object of His love. Let God guide you in wisdom as you take your directions from Him. Let Him handle your problems today! God bless, Pastor Ron

If you are able, support our local Mission Elementary School by participating in their fundraiser at Mod Pizza on February 15. It would be greatly appreciated! Here's why they are doing this fundraiser: "We are an elementary school with the most amazing students that come from very diverse backgrounds, 97% qualify for free or reduced lunch. The struggles of COVID and Distance Learning have taken a toll on our students, staff and supplies. We have sent 90% of our classroom sup...plies home to students who otherwise wouldn't have proper tools for learning. We are in need to raise funds to replace these supplies so that when students return we can provide them with the proper tools for education." Pastor Ron’s Reflection: God’s Provision (1/13/2021) I attended a small Christian college in West Los Angeles my sophomore year. One of the college’s annual events was to take the students to Ensenada, Mexico during Spring Break to serve in an orphanage. This particular year our tasks were to build a new school building and to run a children’s VBS program. We spent months working in preparation for our trip, making sure we had everything necessary to complete our projects wel...Continue reading

In the 12th verse of Christmas my dear Lord gave to me While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. Luke 2:6-7 Our first Christmas! One of the things about Luke’s account is how simple it is in comparison to how great the event was. Jesus came into the world in a very understated and regular way. How amazing to t...hink that God’s Son was born just as we are. What a day to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas and God Bless

In the 11th verse Christmas my dear Lord gave to me: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 A Son, God’s Son! Look at the amazing gifts God has blessed us with in Jesus: someone who is wonderful, mighty, eternal, and full of peace. He has everything we need no matter what we face in life. What a great gift for us on Christmas Eve. God bless

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: Listening to Remember (11/3/2020) Do you ever have days when, even though you set out first thing in the morning to remember God more throughout the day, that by late evening you discover that you didn’t even think of think of Him ‘til now? Nooooo!! Including God more in your life may sound easy, but it actually takes a bit of effort, especially in the area of listening. It reminds me of the Telephone game kids play, where how well one listens deter...Continue reading

Sometimes we tend to forget that our thoughts or our wants don’t always match with what God has planned for us. For His thoughts are not our thoughts and His thoughts are greater then our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. #AntiochCovenantChurch #bibleverseoftheday #BibleVerse #Isaiah55v8and9 #bookofisaiah #trusttheLordourGod #hisplansaregreater

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: 30 Days of Gratitude (10/26/2020) It’s almost hard for me to believe that Halloween is this Saturday night. When I was a kid I loved trick or treating. Dressing up in costumes was fun, but the best part was actually filling up our trick or treat bags. My brothers and I would run as fast as we could from house to house, amassing obscene amounts of candy (and the occasional toothbrushick). I’m a little sad that because of Covid, we will not be handing ...out candy this year. I’ll miss admiring the kids’ costumes. But the good news is that November is just around the corner, because I really love the season of Thanksgiving. You heard meseason of Thanksgiving. As a church we take the weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving to especially focus on seeing and being grateful for the good things God has given us. You might recall that at this time last year we began the 30 Days of Gratitude challenge, in which each Sunday when we came to church we were given 7 small verse cards to put on a key ring, one for each day of the week. And guess what. This year we are having the 30 Days of Gratitude challenge again, only this time it’s Covid style. Here are the details. Each Tuesday for the next 4 weeks I will e-mail you the 7 verses for the week. Every day commit to reading a new verse card, thanking God for whatever good thing He gave you that the verse brought to mind. Refer to the verse throughout the day, keeping it handy to use in prayers of thankfulness. Remember to be open to anything in your life that is good (could be a person, an experienceeven a blade of grass!); God gives us all good things! The e-mail will come with the verses as attachments in two forms: 1) a printable page that you can print up and cut into cards and place on a key ring (maybe recycle last year’s?) and 2) a calendar for the week that you can print and put on your fridge, kitchen table, mirrorany place that you will see frequently, keeping the challenge fresh in your mind. If you are currently not on our e-mail list and you’d like to be included in this challenge, please email me at: [email protected] . Also, I would love to hear stories and/or see pictures of how this being intentionally grateful worked in your life. What is a good gift God gave you today? Please feel free to email or text me with them, or share them on our Facebook pages. Look in your inbox for the first 7 verses. Ready? Go! God bless. Pastor Ron

Pastor Ron’s Refection: Positivity (10/20/2020) WARNING: You are being bombarded with negativity! Not in this reflection, of course, but by your surroundings. As we enter these last few weeks before the election, local, state and federal campaigns are getting downright ugly. Name calling, character assassination, and lies flood our screens, mailboxes, phones and roadsides. I don’t see any way to avoid getting hit with at least a small bit of the negativity that is flying arou...Continue reading

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: Do-Overs (10/13/2020) One time in a high school math class I had taken a test and I knew I had bombed. I’m not exaggeratingI left the class knowing I’d be lucky to get a D. Groan. Needless to say I dreaded going back the next day, knowing the teacher would be handing out our tests results. But I did grudgingly go in. And yes, I tanked the test. But so did every one of my classmatesexcept one! And instead of getting down on us, the teacher said that ...Continue reading

Pastor Ron’s Reflection: Preparing (9/30/2020) Our wedding engagement lasted10 long months. Why did I use the word long? We were young and in LOVE; it hurt whenever we were apart. But because she had her last year of undergrad to finish and we were intent on keeping our relationship pure in God’s eyes, we waited. And waited. But we also were very busy with school, work, and making never-ending decisions for our wedding. Oh, we had a lot fun while we waited, like selecting wh...ich dinnerware we preferred and what color towels to put on our registry, fitting in fun dates and talking for hours on the phone. But beneath all that flurry of excited activity lay a deep yearning to just be married, to never have to really be apart ever again. Why am I telling you this? Because our time on earth is like a wedding engagement period. We have an amazing future waiting for us in heaven, a time when we will see God face to face, a time when there will be no more sorrow or tears or war or discord of any kind, a time when we will be in deep, joyful communion with God and other believers. But for now we wait, anticipating the big day. But we must not let our waiting be in vain. Jesus surely isn’t wasting time! Look at what he said shortly before his crucifixion: My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 If Jesus is actively getting ready for us to come live with Him forever, we’d better hop to it! How do we do that? We need to continually pursue our relationship with Him, especially when it gets hard. It’s never too late. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you have gotten too far away from God and the relationship can’t be fixed. He knows we are human, and all humans make mistakes. God encourages us to admit our sins (confession) and accept His love and forgiveness. Repentance, although difficult, can make life beautiful. Identify a place or two where you feel closer to God and spend a few minutes there each day. It could be a walk in nature, under a backyard tree, in the swing on your front porch, or maybe in your favorite chair. Relax and enjoy being with your Heavenly Father. Include God in your day by talking with Him. Maybe think about building in casual conversations with Him instead of feeling an overwhelming burden to pray in the way you think prayer is supposed to be. It can be that simple. Don’t wait until you feel like worshiping Him to do it; just start. Even if you feel like it’s not what you want, I’ll bet He appreciates just hearing from you. Notice what you think are hints of God’s kingdom around you and thank Him for those things He’s allowing you to see and enjoy. God bless.
