Dear Friends of Antigua Cafe, Santa Rita Hills Apellation Wine Growing Area (bordered by Lompoc to the West and Buellton/Solvang to the East, located in the Santa Barbara County Wine Country) has been Chef Yaneth's "second home" for many years. We visited the Valley numerous times and joined many Wine Clubs of its finest Wineries. Santa Rita Hills Apellation is one of the best wine producing areas... in the world (no kidding!!! :)) due to its unique West-East orientated vall...ey which opens to the Pacific Ocean via the flat lands of Lompoc and is surrounded by the Mountain Ranges running West-East. ALL OTHER wine growing areas in North America (including Napa Valley), run North-South (except Valle de Guadalupe Wine Country located to the North of Ensenada, Mexico where... we will take you soon, too!!!). This most unique topography (for wine growing purposes) allows cool ocean breezes and fog (the Famous "Santa Rita Hills SEA SMOKE") to enter the Valley each afternoon to moderate its micro-climate. Grape vines love such stressful environment with the HOT (late morning) - COLD (afternoon/evening) large temperature jumps. They produce the best wines while living "on the edge"... Such micro-climate produces many truly outstanding quality, cool climate, Wines (world class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays) and Chef Yaneth would like to introduce some of those jewels to you. In the near future, she is planning to host "Antigua Cafe Santa Rita Hills Picnic Wine Tour" where Her Wonderful Cuisine and the best local wines will meet. During the tour we will introduce you to our favorite wineries as well as to the "Lompoc Wine Ghetto" (yes: it is called The Wine Ghetto) and the La Purisima Mission. Dear Friends and Supporters of the Antigua Cafe, From the bottom of my heart, I, The Perrito, Antigua Cafe Doggie, say today to all of you: THANK YOU and Goodbye!!!... This is my last day at the Beautiful & Cozy Antigua Cafe Garden Patio, which was my home that I loved so much and that I will miss so dearly !!! I hope that I will be riding my bicycle in Your Memories and Hearts Forever !!! :) I worked hard everyday, for the last two years, telling passers-by and the rest of the world how Dog, People and Family Friendly Chef Yaneth is... I do thank your recent, generous show of support, friendship and encouragement during our last days in Torrance during our big inventory clearance sale. Soon, we will be asking all of you, as well as the rest of the community, for HELP: we will start a fund-raising drive to make it possible to re-open Antigua Cafe at a new location. Chef Yaneth (and Alexa) are dining at the World Class, Casa Santo Domingo Restaurant (Antigua, Guatemala). Most delicious cuisine is crafted by Chef Mario Campollo (a good friend of Marvin, Yaneth's brother...)... At last, Chef Yaneth CAN relax a little bit (after almost three years of a very, very hard work at the "Antigua Cafe Torrance") and... somebody else is cooking for her today !!! :) Restaurant paid respect to our Guatemalan-Polish-US heritage: see three flags on our table!!! :)
