Both the Federal EITC (#EITC) and the California Earned Income Tax Credit (#CalEITC) help millions of working people claim their hard-earned dollars every year. Help us spread the word and share this so everyone who qualifies for the credits can get them! Learn more at CalEITC4Me.org #EITCAwarenessDay #CalEITC4Me
Today the CA State Senate passed SB 89 & 91 to extend the eviction moratorium and provide $1.5B in assistance to renters & landlords. After months of work and negotiations, I was pleased to support today’s efforts. It has been one of my top priorities to keep people housed and small mom and pop landlords as whole as possible.
California renters are in crisis and the fact that people may face eviction in the midst of a worldwide pandemic is beyond alarming. Bold, swift action must be a priority for the legislature, and must include provisions to protect small landlords who are at risk of foreclosure. Everyone suffers- landlords and tenants, if we don’t act now.
I am working to ensure that we don’t forget that farmworkers need to be vaccinated and that every single county sets this as a priority. This is personal for me, and it hurts.
Yesterday, California joined cities across the nation in lighting our state Capitol in amber to honor the lives lost to #COVID19 At a time when so many are grie...ving the indescribable loss of loved ones, it is important to reaffirm our commitments to ending this pandemic and to the rebuilding of our country. We will come out of this better and stronger than ever. #COVIDMemorial
While different, today marked the beginning of the 2021-2022 legislative session. I welcome the opportunity to serve alongside my colleagues whether newly elect...ed or returning. We have a lot of work to do and we are ready to get it done! Susan Talamantes Eggman Senator Melissa Hurtado #SD12 #ValleyStrong #GirlPowe
I introduced two bills today to tackle the housing crisis we are in. One to extend the moratorium on evictions and another to use vacant commercial/retail spaces for affordable housing. Please see my press release to learn more.
Campaign season is over, so what do you do with all of those leftover signs? You make them into a beautiful Christmas display, of course! Well done, Brian Bobbitt! Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season.
In the last nine months, County residents have done everything asked of them and have made many sacrifices to stop the spread of the virus and keep our communities safe. Merced County has the opportunity to step up and honor the sacrifices made by its residents by using all available resources to limit the lasting damage of the pandemic. Funding is available if the political will is there.
Rafer Johnson moved to the San Joaquin Valley town of Kingsburg at the age of 9. He became a world-class athlete, broke racial barriers and used his time and talents to do so much good. My condolences to the Johnson Family and those that are mourning the loss of such a heroic athlete and friend. *This beautiful mural can be found downtown Kingsburg as a tribute to the impact and legacy made by Mr. Rafer Johnson in the community. #RaferJohnson #Kingsburg... https://t.co/RJkBwWTpmn
